Hi all, new to this group, has any one from this group has came off their medications, due to exercise and healthy living.
My doctor told me that I will never came off my diabetes and blood pressure tablets. Is there the slightest possibility that coming off your med is possible, by proper diet and exercising only.

A qualified yes but do not get false hope. So many factors are involved. And you would have to be really strict with diet. I've seen it before but honestly I didn't trust the claims.
You really need to talk to the right health professional and I cant tell you how to find one in your area.
My understanding of type 2 (assuming that's you) is the insulin cant get into the cells because the "keyhole" is blocked by fat. Sounds simple then. Lose cellular fat and the insulin works again. If it were only that simple. You're more likely to be able to come off blood pressure.
WARNING. You're on blood pressure control partly because of the diabetes. You're more vulnerable to complications - that's why in the UK we get free flu jabs. Yes, if you could get it down "naturally" that would be great.
I wish you well, don't hesitate to come back for support and help. Look at Diabetes UK diabetes.org.uk/ . There's a lot of helpful information. Interestingly there's a link on the home page to an article about possible REMISSION of type 2.
Totally agree with you Fenbadger, I've been T2 for 3 years and have reduced my levels back to pre-diabetic levels, my cholesterol and blood pressure are in the normal range now too but that's with the help of tablets. I'm on 1000mg metformin twice a day and my GP says that even if I get back into normal ranges he won't stop my metformin totally because they have found that metformin has been found to be helpful in prevention of heart disease and possibly controlling some cancers. So, I'm happy to carry on with the meds if he says its worth doing so.
One thing to remember is though, that once a diabetic, always a diabetic because you don't "cure" it, you go into remission and the possibility of your BG levels rising again is always there.
Likewise on 1000mg x2. Even then I would always advise taking other control measures - especially when advised by your care professionals (in my case the practice nurse). I know people who have said "now I'm on pills I can go back to the old ways". An emphatic NO. That's a dangerous way out for the weak willed. I get to look at my retina photos and though I cant see a difference myself I don't want get into the problems that go with capillary damage. I can still see and walk and feel my fingers. That article I mentioned, talked about remission for 2 years, not a cure, though research is always going on.
