I have just been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes having been borderline for several years.
I have experienced nausea and retching on several mornings after waking up - could this be linked to the diabetes ? It’s never happened before ? ( It is not morning sickness - I am male ! )
Just wondered if anyone else has experienced this ?

Sorry to hear that you have been not feeling well in the morning hours. Has your doctor suggested that you change your diet?
Here is the free leaflets from the DRWF ( Diabetes Research & Wellness Foundation) group also on HU. You can always download/read/listen anytime. Go to: drwf.org.uk/understanding-d...
Many thanks for your response Activity2004. My doctor has “banged the healthy lifestyle drum” but having a blueprint is one thing - actually implementing it is another !! The leaflets look very good - I will download and digest !
It might be, but does it matter? The task ahead of you is to fix your diabetes. At this point you still have a reasonable chance of remission, but the longer you let it slide, the worse your prognosis, and you can look forward to far worse things than a bit of "morning sickness" - blindness, pain, uncontrollable obesity, amputations, daily insulin injections ... lovely stuff.
It doesn't have to be like this. You have a choice.
Drop in on the LCHF group and introduce yourself. There was an incredible story just a few days ago from someone who'd completely turned his life around in 3-4 years. We get one of these stories popping up every few months.
The NHS are slowly getting their act together (read up on Dr David Unwin's work), but I suspect you've been getting terrible advice for the past several years. Most of the mainstream advice for diabetes management is equivalent to pouring gasoline on a chip-pan fire: unsurprisingly, people with T2D simply go from bad to worse by following it.
Thanks very much for your reply The AwfulToad. Got to admit I’m still in denial at the moment - I’ve always dreaded getting diabetes. Reading your things I can look forward to getting if I don’t try and do something is pretty scary but probably what I needed to hear !
I will check out the LCHF group as you suggest. The NHS have been trying to get me signed up to their Pre-diabetes support group but I just haven’t had the time to go to any of the planned appointments. They probably won’t be interested now I’ve been diagnosed.
Thanks again for your response - I have to keep reminding myself I have a choice and strive to make the right one !! 👍
Don't worry - fixing this is waaaay easier than you might think. The first couple of weeks can be a struggle, but after that it all just drops into place. See you in the LCHF group. You might also be interested in reading up on Dr David Unwin, who is almost single-handedly attempting to get the NHS to sort themselves out (with a great deal of success).
Look into intermittent fasting and Dr Fung. T2 diabetes will be gone. I helped my dad reverse 25 years of the condition (he did everything right - diet exercise and still needed more and more insulin. Today he is normal sugar, leaner, happier and zero meds. Please look into it ! I am on the program as it overall matches our biology which was defeated by modern diets.
