Newly Diagnosed Type 3C

Hi everyone,

I recently had my pancreas removed instantly making me a T3C diabetic. Bad times. Wondering if there are any fellow travellers out there on this forum and any tips they could give me. Finding it really hard to control my levels oscillating between low and high. Guess it’s all about getting the dosage correct, especially the long acting insulin. Currently taking 20U Lantis in the evening and I think that might be too much. Carb counting with NovoRapid for other meals which means about 4-6 U. Does this sound about right? My surgery is transferring me onto Levemir, are there any differences I need to know about here? Any advice will be gratefully received!

I don't know anything about this condition, but best wishes to getting insulin and other meds balanced. I do know about that. I encourage you to get a continuous glucose monitor. I was having severe lows. My cgm let me document that and get my insulin amount properly reduced.
