My 7 year old granddaughter has Type 1 diabetes and is about to be given a Dexcom pump. Has anyone any tips on how best she can wear this as it seem as a bulky thing to have to keep close to the body at all times. Thanks.

My daughter was 11 when she was diagnosed and we got a Dexcom CGM (Continuous Glucose Monitor) right away. Is your daughter getting a pump (which delivers insulin) or a CGM (which gives a reading of her blood glucose levels)? The new G7 is very small compared to the G6, but even the G6 was not a problem for my daughter to wear.

She normally wears the Dexcom CGM on her abdomen, and wears an Insulet/Omnipod Pump on her arms or legs.

Wishing you and your granddaughter success and health!

Thanks for your response nequals. I think my granddaughter will be having the G6 - the one just become available on the NHS. Anyway, it will be actually delivering the insulin. Her parents are searching online for handy bits of clothing that she might be able to fit the pump into. ( It’s the one with the tube delivering insulin ). Rather than her have a mobile phone also, we are thinking of getting her a compatible watch so she doesn’t have another bulky thing to carry around. I will definitely show your message to my son and daughter in law. Thank you.
