Tomorrow morning my son an MD, internal med hospitalist, is driving me from Arizona to Corvallis Oregon. I will be living with him till our house in AZ sells and my wife moves up. In the interim I am pursuing a work up with a Movement Disorder Neuro/Psychiatrist in Corvallis that is integrated with the Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland. She anticipates that I will be a good candidate for DBS with Dr Kim Burchiel, neurosurgeon. He is a progenitor of the full anesthesia approach.
I plan to immediately start PT, and any other group or self help therapy that has not been available in the remote area in AZ where we have been living for years. I always loved the majestic splendid remote corner of the desert that I've lived in, but it has become too remote for my changing needs.
It is a true loss... but also a gain.
