Personal Hygiene - Bidets

This is quite personal.

Hubby's hands and fingers have lost pressure ability and some dexterity. Sometimes after toileting he would end up taking a shower to be and feel clean. Suggested investing in a bidet.

Seems there are all types of bidets. Some simple attachments you can hook up to your existing toilet. Or, purchase an entire new toilet with bidet installed. We opted for the middle of the road bidet toilet seat costing a few hundred dollars. Hey, anything within reason that would make my hubby's life with PD easier is OK by me.

The bidet is a toilet seat. Has a night light. Has a heated toilet. Has different settings (I haven't read the booklet yet). Has a remote which we have placed on the side of the vanity.

Didn't take forever to hook up, just a little difficult due to the close proximity of toilet to the vanity. We do have outlets near our toilet. The bidet toilet seat does need to be plugged in.

My hubby has a urinal by his bedside to eliminate getting up in middle of night. I'm the one who benefits from the night light and the warmed toilet seat. Our bedroom temp and master bathroom temp is low at night. A warmed toilet seat is delight.

Bidet has been in use for a few days now. Seems there are less 2nd showers for hubby.

Anyone use a bidet? Thoughts?

Yep, the first one was BioBidet, it stopped working after about 5 years. Bought a Blondel bidet, don't like it as much. I think a bidet is a must have and not just for people with disability. Did you know that using a bidet reduces the risk of colon cancer? It's doesn't matter what kind you use - just begin the practice of washing after BMs

Another advantage!

Yes, I think bidets would be good for everyone.

we have this issue too with me having to scrub his underpants and soak. Not my favourite thing. I have suggested pantyliners but he is resistant so this seems like a good idea.

EVERYONE should have a bidet (heated seat and auto-dry are pluses). Think of all the toilet paper you save!

Yes, ours has auto dry too. Heated seat. Night light. Can select which features you want to use. Bio Bidet.

Bio bidet 1000 or 2000. Expensive, but it was worth it to me. With major GI problems, it is a blessing.

When I was in Thailand, I noticed that many of the toilets have a sprayer attached to them in case you run out of tp. The sprayer costs less than $40. It works well.

Yes, there are add on sprayers which I've heard work well. Inexpensive too if you are lucky and purchase the right one the first time.

Hubby seems to get cold easily and we thought a nice heated seat would be an added benefit.
