Does anyone else have sudden, uncontrollable spasms of dry heaves/gagging? My gastroenterologist is stumped, but my neurologist says its pd.

I generally feel a little nausea then cough then have the spasm of gagging. Never vomiting. I am never eating when I am overcome. One particularly extended episode left my throat so irritated I coughed the whole night after that. My med induced compulsive eating is unfortunately not affected by this issue. The GI prescribed low residue diet is having no effect. Any answers?

I wasn't going to respond to this because I've not had the coughing, but I've had something similar.

Several times (5-6) over the last 2 years, I've suddenly had a lot of nausea and had to vomit within 5 to 10 minutes after it started. I still have no clue what's causing it. I think they've all happened at home, when I was doing nothing special, So, the house is a suspect, but I've lived here for 7 years.-- with none of that the first five. I mentioned it to my GP, who didn't recognize it (not much info to go on.) He advised me to observe the circumstances when thus happens food, stress, whatever, to look for a cause.

I strongly doubt they're to due to migraines, and my migraines have had a distinctive pattern for ~15 years *mild headache on the right side, gradual increase in nausea and other symptoms" -- could be more than 2 hours before the vomiting. Before a migraine gets that far, I take an Rx migraine med and that ends it soon, Without the med, I'd be vomiting for nearly all of these.

I look at everything this way: If it's goofy it's Parkinson's

Do you have any dizziness along with it? I went through a lot of nausea and vomiting before diagnosis, it was usually preceded by dizziness which would happen if I moved my head from side to side or any movement of my body.

Everything was check out by a GI doc and I had a couple of endoscopies, I did have a couple of bleeding ulcers, they gave me Nexium. The ulcers healed, but the severe episodes of N/V did not stop.

Once the PD was diagnosed, my neurologist said it is due to the PD affect on the nerves to the inner ear. Sometimes my vision is also involved, seeing double or those good old visual hallucinations that first made me think I was loosing my mind!

I get both, first the nausea then the dry heaves feels like my stomach is coming up but nothing does then it stops. I never know when it will happen and I find it embarrassing.
