Is there a side effect of other body parts breaking down? Such as tooth loss or problems with decay?

My side effects have been injuries: 2 torn meniscuses, one torn hip rotator, one torn rotator cuff and a hernia! Coming apart at the seams :D

I have bone spurs on both heels, osteoarthritis from the lower spine to the neck, hypertension, a partially torn rotator cuff of the right shoulder, missing teeth, left and right inginual hernias, coronary artery disease, and male pattern baldness :) , all which seem to be complications of aging. Hang in there, every day you wake up above the ground is one more opportunity to live, laugh, love and be happy, or to at least shoot for those things.

I have a very dry mouth as a side effect of my drugs (I think mostly from the Artane). So the lack of saliva is probably responsible for problems with my teeth. Lost a front tooth. Ugh.

I would say so. Dry mouth also give me grief. My tongue gets "stuck" to the roof of my mouth when I sleep. Dentist gave me several things to help but none worked. I wonder what causes dry mouth?

Have you tried using a room vaporizer to add moisture to the bedroom air? It might be just the ticket. You are likely breathing through your mouth as you sleep.

In addition, as mention in prior replies, dry mouth is a common symptom with PD and a common side effect of PD meds.

Less saliva produced - result = dry mouth.

I think it's the meds not PD. I,m 64 now dx 8 yrs ago. Until then I only had 6 fillings & my teeth were very strong. Now they are rotting away - my dentist said they look as if they had been sand-blasted, especially the top front. I also have dry mouth so I chew sugar-free gum when not in company. This works in the day but I don't recommend falling asleep with it in your mouth - the pillow gets very messy if it drops out.

Read all "ingredients" in gum or drinks..."Aspartame" is an artificial sweetener that "promotes" PD......Avoid it, if at all possible.

Dry mouth has been proven to damage tooth enamel with then leads to tooth decay.

Saliva protects teeth from bacteria and fungi. Less saliva less protection.

I have dozens of house plants which of course are great for keeping the humidity high. My

dentist says my teeth have never been in better condition.
