WHAT IS A ''FROZEN'' SHOULDER?
Frozen shoulder, also known as adhesive capsulitis, is a condition characterized by stiffness and pain in your shoulder joint. Signs and symptoms typically begin gradually, worsen over time and then resolve, usually within one or two years.
Further to the above, my "frozen shoulders" prevent me from raising my arms above the horizontal, they just seize up.
I believe the problem is with the tendon sheaths, they become dry and cause pain, inhibiting movement.
I have had several cortisone injections to try to ease it but they haven't worked and the docs won't allow more than 3.
I had 2 frozen shoulders and could not raise my arms. It has left me weaker but physio is most important..keep moving as much as possible. Thing that worked best for me otherwise was acupuncture. I think it was to do with being borderline diabetic..like something caramelises in the shoulder..keep off sugar.!
My own experience with a frozen shoulder was similar to the above. It was very painful and could not raise my arm above a certain level. Also found it impossible to get dressed as arm would not move where it was needed. I had physio which did not help at all. It lasted for a long time and. I believe, signalled
the start of my Parkinsons. It did not get better overnight, but is fine now.
I had a frozeb shoulder which turned out to be a torn roto cuff
I HAD WHAT I PRESUME WAS A FROZEN RIGHT SHOULDER WHRN I FELL DOWN THE STAIRS - BUT NOW I HAVE IT IN THE OTHER SHOULDER FOR NO APPARENT REASON - ALL I KNOW IS IT HURTS A LOT !! I TRY AND STETCH IT AS MUCH AS I CAN MYSELF BY 'LIFTING IT WITH THE GOOD ARM
I needed Physical Therapy for mine to improve. That's when I learned PT stands for pain & torcher
My shoulder was sore. My Dr. put it in a sling and told me not to move it. Then PT kept telling me I should have been moving it.
What did you end up doing?
