Has anyone with PD been misdiagnosed of having frozen shoulder? How long until you got the right diagnosis? Did you need shoulder arthroscopy?
Frozen shoulder: Has anyone with PD been... - Cure Parkinson's
Frozen shoulder
If you do a search on this site you will get a lot of posts about Frozen shoulders and pain in shoulders and arms. That is certainly one of my most irritating symptoms. Hurts like hell until my sinemet kicks in and then usually much better after that. I don't know if it was on this site but I remember reading about somebody who was going to have surgery for their frozen shoulder but when they put him under the shoulder immediately came unfrozen so they didn't do the surgery as it was obviously a symptom of his Parkinson's. Curiouser and curiouser.
Thank you for your post My husband has been diagnosed since end of 2015 but some symptoms I believe he has had for many years like frozen shoulder but I have only learnt that today by reading your post He has had the nightmares years ago and dragged his foot for many years
Yes. Originally posted as reply to both Jenzo and Yarnwoman ......, before I was diagnosed I was prepped for surgery for frozen shoulder and rotator cuff tear surgery, but under anaesthetic there was full movement and I was found to have neither. I was given a steroid injection which was enough to give me back some limited movement and on the advice of a physiotherapist made sure I kept moving it. However, after starting on Sinemet the pain disappeared and with exercise I now have full movement again. If I stop exercising the pain and stiffness worsens. When meds wear off pain in the top of my arm returns. I do exercise for general health (Pilates, BoXercise, NIA, etc), but do rowing and specific shoulder strengthening work in the gym. And this is also only on my affected side. I have occasionally overdone the shoulder exercising and needed massage to ease aching muscles so I also have to be careful.
what drugs and dose do you take?
Pain relief was virtually immediate, but exercise has been key in keeping shoulder mobile. My arm swings freely until meds wear off.

A lot of doctors do not know that frozen shoulder can be the result of thyroid problem. Have that thyroid checked!
