Evidence that 40Hz gamma stimulation promotes brain health is expanding

A decade of studies provide a growing evidence base that increasing the power of the brain’s gamma rhythms could help fight Alzheimer’s, and perhaps other neurological diseases.

I am using the sound file of this frequency you shared in a previous post every day. Thank you so much!

Bolt, could you share the link to the file that Chastar is referring to? I tried to download it one time but it failed. I listen to a 40 Hz tone on YouTube, but I don’t know how accurate that is???

The 40 HZ tone from MIT on YouTube was designed for mouse hearing. Mine is 250 HZ pulsed at 40 HZ. Not saying mine is better. I have a high school degree.

The link to my file is at the bottom of this page: rbd-pd-protocols.blogspot.c...

Let me know if you have problems saving it.

How long and often do you use it for?

Bolt_Upright profile image
Bolt_Upright in reply toAllypally49

I listen to the whole file, 50 minutes, every night before bed. I use bone conduction headphones, the don't block your ears, so I can still watch TV or chat while listening.

interesting to hear about the MIT tone. That’s exactly why I don’t really trust the YouTube versions fully. Thanks for the link. I will check it out when I the chance and I’ll let you know if I run into any glitches with downloading it! Thanks for all the help you give all of us!

Thanks Bolt! I was able to download it to my Google Drive! Do you recommend using this tone with earbuds? Or is it just as effective to listen to it without?

Bolt_Upright profile image
Bolt_Upright in reply toTracyLaine

Personally, based on no evidence, I think earbuds are bad for your hearing as there is no space between the sound and your ear drum and the air is trapped. I use bone conduction headphones and sometimes just cheap headphones. You can probably play it on your phone speaker too. It does not need to be stereo (it is not a stereo file).

Hi Bolt

Sounds very interesting. I'm up for trying this!

Any tips on how to listen to it? What volume? How often and for how long? With headphones?

Apologies if you've stated this elsewhere.

Many thanks.

Sally

I think bone conduction headphones or cheap normal headphones are best. I listen to it fairly loud but I am an idiot and it probably does not need to be loud at all. I listen to the file every night before I go to bed. If you use bone conduction headphones your ears are not covered and you can still chat with people, do things, or watch TV.

This whole 50 minutes before bed is just my idea. Some of the trials listened to the sound a lot less than that (which seemed silly to me).

Brilliant! I'm going to try it.

Thank you for your help, Bolt.

Keep sending that evidence Mr. Bolt! 😊 I use your sound file too, just with ordinary headphones. At night reading. Really appreciate that, and your advice. I might just look like a really big mouse with headphones but what have I got to lose, right? 😀 Thank you.

do you have a suggestion for bone-conduction headphones? and BTW, i think that is the way to go...sort of follows beechband, cue1 and the vibrating balls/gloves ideas.

Thanks Bolt. Thoughts on doing this while trying to learn something new? That is, to help neurogenesis. Did you try that or no?

Interesting idea. That's all I have.

I do a lot of things and have no idea what helps and what does not. I am better than I was 4 years ago.

I have this on my bio. It provides context:

I have not been diagnosed with PD. I was diagnosed with REM Sleep Behavior Disorder in April 2021. My neurologist said this would eventually become PD, LBD, or MSA. At the time of diagnosis I also had a sore neck, sore left shoulder and upper arm, sore left leg, some balance issues, loss of sense of smell, and seborrheic dermatitis on my face. I have also had random jerky movements and muscle twitches for many years.

All that said, I feel pretty good. My RBD is nearly non-existent. The involuntary movements are way down. Balance is fine. Left shoulder and are are almost normal. I still have a sore neck and a poor sense of smell.

I can't pinpoint why I am better, as I do a LOT of things: rbd-pd-protocols.blogspot.c...

To be honest, I have not been to your bio- just looked now. I appreciate your wealth of knowledge, anecdotal information, & willingness to share your stack. I have been overwhelmed for the past 2 years researching PD for my husband with PD, 54yo - symptoms present for 10-12 years from what the dr thinks. Like you we have tried SO many things, meds do not seem to help - if anything, side effects have made life a bit tragic.

"a bit tragic" is an interesting and sad turn of phrase. I used to write songs and I can appreciate that. I am sorry you all are going through this, especially at a young age.

If it will help, MBAnderson hosts great Zoom calls every Sunday with lots of nice people who know a LOT about PD. We discuss all the different drugs and treatments and also discuss the career of American singer Vicki Lawrence. You WILL be welcomed!

40 hz is almost exactly the low E string on a bass guitar. I always feel better after jamming on my bass. I thought it was from moving my fingers, but this is some SCIENCE, here!
