tips for treating shuffle symtoms and anxiety

Hello, My 87 year old Mother in law was dx 4 years ago with PD, She is now started experiencing severe shuffling symptoms in the afternoon when trying to walk. She takes Sinemet, but doc switched her to Ritari to see if it helped...it did not. shes back on sinemet

ANy suggested other meds that may be better to treat this.? I heard about a nasal spray and was wondering if she just needs a boost of dopamine in the afternoons.

She is also now experiencing a lot of anxiety daily. ANy recommended alternatives to treat this, or medications that have been helpful? She is resistant to any SSRI's .I was thinking CBD may help

You can try Lithium Orotate (search posts on this page).

Have you considered making a set of Vibrotactile gloves for her?

Basic question , but how much Carbadopa/ Levadopa is she on, and have you tried shortening the time between doses or giving your mom an extra half a pill in the afternoon and observing to see if shuffling improves?

I have learned so much about how to properly use Carbadopa/ Levadopa by reading the relevant chapters in the book “ The New Parkinson’s Disease TReatment Book by Neurologist Eric Ahlskog. I have modified my HWP dose to specifically improve his gait based on what seems to be his most gait improving dose. If I had left it up to our Movement Disorder Doc, who watches my hubby walk for 30 seconds, my hubby would still be on too low of a dose and his gait/ shuffling would be unacceptable. He is currently on 2 pills 100/25 C/L Twice a day 4 to 5 hours apart and just one pill around 6pm to keep meds a bit level. Since he does not walk too far after 6pm, it is working well. Zero dyskinesia and his gait significantly improved even with the slow jump from 1 and a half pills to 2 pills at a time. Of course good Physical therapy helps as well. This book is a life saver and available on Amazon. Best of luck!

Have you tried cutting sugars, going more low carb? Adding a quality fish oil like Nordic naturals, also one to two tablespoons of coconut oil daily?
