Thanksgiving I started coughing after eating which is normal for me. After three days of coughing I fainted twice early Sunday morning. Went to hospital diagnosed with aspiration pneumonia. Given clindamycin for it. Since taking it I have had bowel movements every day vs every 4 days. Hopefully it continues. Did it fix my bowel movements or just be grateful for the ride?

There is a program LVST and there are exercises that you can do that help to strengthen your voice and swallowing. It is offered by practitioners but you can also do the exercises on your own at home. I will try to add the video but if it does not work I suggest going to youtube and doing a search for LVST speech therapy
well sending the video did not work but this is the name of
It’s a good idea to go to a voice therapist. Mine told me that my coughing was due to vagal neuropathy and suggested that I chew gum frequently during the day, and aspartame free gum is best. I chew xylitol gum, especially right after a coughing attack. She Also gave me voice exercises that involved making loud sounds and breathing correctly. I did all this and no longer have coughing except if I’ve gone too long without chewing gum. She said she had read a study that said that PD people who chew gum are much less likely to die from choking than those who don’t .
I’ve become very interested in vagal neuropathy VN.. VN could be responsible for many of the strange symptoms of Parkinson’s. In the case of vagal (vagus nerve) neuropathy, we are trying to wake the vagal nerve. It has not actually died, but it’s just not working right. There are self massage techniques that can help as well as turning on very cold water at the end of your shower every day for about a minutes!
Clindamycin is about the oldest, cheapest, but least effective antibiotic because the bugs have had so many decades to evolve immunity. And I've even had a dangerous episode with it when my medical nurse practitioner used it as first pass because it is often used for throat bugs. It didn't work and I ended up with a major infection that started working its way up a vein, had me needing to admit to the hospital with an in line high dose antibiotic, at which point the MD told me about the history of the med. The nurse was going by requirements of an insurance company and because, I particularly believe, she was not a doctoral level medical practitioner... She didn't palpate to find out that the infection was actually not in my throat but up a glandular pathway which by definition would exclude clindamycin as a first choice..
