Parkinson's Supplements

My son-in-law has developed Parkinson's disease. I would like to suggest a brain health supplement that includes alpha-gpc, as well as several other nutrients. I am concerned the alpha-gpc might be counterproductive to dopamine levels. Can you advise?

Not about the question you're asking, but maybe you should be asking more than one question. There's that one study of 12 million South Koreans that suggested 40% higher stroke risk.

If he hasn't already tried vitamin B1 / Thiamine, it has helped many with little to no side effects.

I wish there was a way of knowing how to get the dose just right. An example is that day before yesterday I think I figured out that my husband might have had symptoms attributable to a little too much B1 and then he didn't take it yesterday and the day went well but today the symptoms started and right after the B1 they improved quickly. This balance thing gets complicated and then when you have a lot of improvements from other therapeutic efforts does it then also make it so that a lesser amount is effective while too much seems to kind of throw things off

Given you are predisposed to the use of alpha-gpc, surely your research on alpha-gpc would have broached the issue of its effect on dopamine levels.

Curious as to why you should be asking?

Dr Laurie Mischley has done extensive research on supplements and PD. While she doesn’t study alpha-gpc, she does have some very powerful insights. Find out more here: pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/368...
