I just came across this interesting article on foods and alpha-synuclein. Could not find any reference to it in the group so am posting for those interested.
Berries and Parkinson's: I just came across... - Cure Parkinson's
Berries and Parkinson's
The wrong video came through. At the bottom of this article there's the video Treating Parkinson's Disease with Diet
Very interesting Nigel. Are you trying it yrself?
Sure am Munchy. Blueberries are used to improve the flavour of my breakfast smoothie (Budwig's omega 3 boost of flaxseed oil and cottage cheese with an egg thrown in for protein). Strawbs and whatever smoothie late morning/lunch and high fibre veges with small chicken or salmon or eye fillet for dinner.
Interestingly I came across an article that listed Lactobacillus Plantarum as a probiotic that cleans up alpha-synuclein and it is produced by fermenting veges. Haven't started making these yet. No use buying them as they get heated to kill off pathogens which also kills the probiotics.
I read that blueberries are in fact very protective against PD. My husband takes Life Extension blueberry extract capsules. Easy to take. Interesting the article talked about phytonutrients in general....Juice Plus capsules provide excellent sources of these nutrients in capsule form. We dont use them, but I have non PD friends that do and love them becasue they hardly get sick and feel so much better. I did hear one professional talk about Juice Plus and how it can help PD.
My 2 cents, i put about 1 cup of berries in my daily smoothie and I'm still breathing!
1 cup mixed berries. Blueberry blackberries red and black cherries, strawberries, raspberry.
1/4 cup siggis blueberry yogurt
2 huge scoops Undenatured grass fed whey protein isolate
2 cups grassmilk
Sometimes i put a banana or some nutella in there.
Yum!
