I’ve been experimenting with it for a month but I’ve not noticed any change in my symptoms yet. I would also like to hear from other PWPs who might have been using creatine for a longer period of time.
After a low creatine level was detected, I supplemented with creatine for a year. I didn't feel any difference, in a period that my PD symptoms worsened rapidly. When my creatine levels returned to normal, I stopped. Although my Parkinson's situation has significantly improved due to vitamin B supplementation, I do notice a reduction in muscle mass, partly due to peripheral neuropathy. It may not hurt to try creatine again.
There is an old study showing that in combination with Q10 it might slow down PD progression.
I was taking it when strength training and my tremors and general symptoms kept getting worse, Bolt Upright found information that stated people with PD should not take it due to aggravating symptoms.I quit taking it and symptoms subsided back to normal.
I’ve been on Creatine for a few months now. (First tried it maybe 30 years ago briefly, but I was concermed about possible kidney issues so I stopped.) I take 5gms a day, without any loading dose. I’ve bulked up a couple of pounds, but that could be unrelated. On some websites, I’ve seen higher doses taken for cognitive enhancement, but I’ve been too chicken to test if it would give me diarrhea. It might help slightly with Parkinson’s but I haven’t noted anything decisive
I take it...though I had no idea it was supposed to be good for PD. I'm trying to bulk up a little. And actually, I think it works. I drink it in a protein shake after my workouts.
I THINK I can tell a difference. With muscles. Not noticed anything with PD symptoms, good or bad.
I used it for a while. This was years before developing PD. I was trying to increase muscle. It did seem to work; I had a steep hill that I'd never been able to run to the top of without resting. With the Creatine I was able to blast my way up the hill easily. Creatine increases fluid levels in muscle, enhancing its growth. It's like putting a tight band around your shoulder and lifting weights. The swollen muscle will grow in response to the effort.
