Semaglutide is a weight-loss drug that is popular. I get a magazine called Brain and Life that looks at neurologic conditions. The most recent issue looked at weight loss drugs. The idea is that diet can reduce inflammation in the body. And thereby reduce Parkinson's disease symptoms. Has anyone tried these drugs and seen a change in symptoms? For whatever reasons I seem to be unable to lose weight. I might ask the neuro if weight-loss meds might help.

Semaglutide?
GLP antagonist were trialed in a study at my HWP neuro not enough impact to continue to next phase. French pharma is testing a drug Lixisenatide its not currently available but has more promising results
I was on Wegovy and I noticed my PD symptoms were improving. I felt organized and had no compulsive behaviors (shopping) and enjoyed longer walks. Then I was switched to Zepbound. I’m still losing weight, but I don’t notice the same positive effects on my PD symptoms.
My doc says the two acts a little differently in the brain. I really can’t afford to go back on Wegovy as it is twice as much as Zepbound. The costs of these drugs is simply astronomical. The benefits seem to outweigh the health risks of obesity however.
I tried Rybelsus. The doctor had a bunch of samples, so he didnt even bat an eye when I asked to try it. Started on a test dose and gradually ramped up to the full dose over a course of several months. Nothing at all at the test doses, but as soon as I went on the full dose, I got so sick. Immediately. It felt like whatever I last ate stayed in my stomach for days and days. I never felt worse! So I stopped taking it and within a few days, the problem resolved, thank GOD! I'll never touch that stuff again or recommend it to anyone.
As far as Parkinsons symptoms, it did nothing.
I think these types of drugs shut down peristalsis and we're going to see a lot of people ultimately wind up with feeding tubes down the line. Also pancreatic cancer and liver cancer. I also think doctors are over-prescribing the stuff. Just my opinion. I have a lot of opinions on stuff like that. Dont get me started! Beware.
Just eat as clean as possible in this world of contaminated food and water, get proper sleep and some sort of regular exercise, do everything as right as possible and trust the process. Avoid seed oils and anything that is GMO especially wheat, soy, corn and anything else that is Roundup-ready (which means they spray it with Glyphosate and it doesnt die, and you eat the Glyphosate-contaminated plant product)
