Hi, question for the Ceylon cinnamon users among us: how do you know if you have taken too much cinnamon?
* Six weeks ago I started taking 1 teaspoon Ceylon cinnamon (approximately 2 grams) daily, with a lot of success, particularly improvements in my tremor and speech.
* Three weeks later I increased the dose to 1.5 teaspoons cinnamon daily (approximately 3 grams). Interestingly, nothing really changed between 1 and 1.5 teaspoons cinnamon - the good initial results continued as before.
* One week after the increase in dose, all my PD symptoms quite quickly (within a week or so) got worse. Not as bad as before I started the cinnamon, but noticably worse.
At first I thought this was a B1 overdose, because I've had the same rapid change in symptoms due to too much B1 before. However, I've stopped B1 for seven days now with no symptom improvement (or worsening for that matter), so now I'm not sure about the B1.
Has anyone experienced any issues with too much Ceylon cinnamon?

This is not something I've heard of happening before, but that does not make it impossible. Have you tried backing off on your cinnamon dosage, and if so did that make any difference?
Also, I highly recommend being on a stable dose of B1 before experimenting with cinnamon, and vice versa.
Finally, there have been occasions when my symptoms have changed for better or worse for no apparent reason.
Thanks for your comments, park_bear, and your initial cinnamon research post! 😀

Not yet, but lowering the dose back to 1 teaspoon daily does seem to be the obvious next step.

Yes, I was in my "sweet spot" and had been for (checks notes) 7 weeks. I've read on the "Parkinson's B1 Therapy" Facebook group that the correct dose for an individual can trend down over time, so I thought maybe that had happened to me.

Hi Park Bear, Cinnamon can reduce the termors and parkinson's conditions ??. How much to take ?? when i s the best time to take , so that I get maximum benifits??
my husband takes a teaspoon daily with his breakfast. Been doing it for a couple of years now. He likes the taste so enjoys it. He’s never altered the dose. He does quite a few other things so difficult to attribute exactly what it helps with, but generally he’s doing well after nearly 9 years since dx.
Thanks Smokeypurple, that's quite interesting. Around a week after increasing my cinnamon dose to 1.5 teaspoons I thought I was coming down with a cold - snuffly nose, etc. I didn't think much of it at the time, but maybe it's connected?
