World Parkinson's Day was in Holland marked by the broadcast of the Teledoc "Together Alone” ( Samen alleen) by Carmen Cobos and Kees Rijninks. The documentary is mostly spoken in English and provides a very relatable depiction of "our" disease. It gave also my friends and family a better understanding of what PD feels like and what may lie ahead for me and them. It is puzzling that the couple in the film struggles to accept the reality of the disease. After 10 years, they seem to finally grasp that the process is irreversible and that there is no cure. As Kees' Parkinson's situation appears hopeless, they face increasing pressure. Does a life without prospects still hold meaning? A nearly inhumane, devilish dilemma presents itself. It is not a very uplifting story, but it is certainly confronting, especially for those around us.
