I've been thinking about controlled release levodopa, and how it hasn't worked for me, but works for others. Maybe my gut bacteria is different? This article discusses the findings that some people have lost the ability to break down cellulose in the gut. Many fillers these days are cellulose. Related? I don't know. 😀 arstechnica.com/science/202...

for my husband it was it was too strong and it made him manic.
I have been using Rytary, a non-generic Controlled Released C/L for about 6 months now. The first 2 months were great as I had about 5 hours between doses and little off-time. 3 months later, my off-time was 4 hours or more each day. I experimented and started taking 1/2 of a 25/100 IR C/L 1 hour before my next Rytary dose. Since afternoons were the shakiest for me, I upped my 2pm IR to 1 full pill. I have managed to get my off-time down to between 1 & 2 hours per day, which I find manageable.
Have you considered mucuna purines (a bean)? Some people prefer it to taking a pharmaceutical. I have never tried it.
Good luck,
Gerald
