• Abstract: The glymphatic movement of fluid through the brain removes metabolic waste1,2,3,4. Noninvasive 40 Hz stimulation promotes 40 Hz neural activity in multiple brain regions and attenuates pathology in mouse models of Alzheimer’s disease5,6,7,8. Here we show that multisensory gamma stimulation promotes the influx of cerebrospinal fluid and the efflux of interstitial fluid in the cortex of the 5XFAD mouse model of Alzheimer’s disease. Influx of cerebrospinal fluid was associated with increased aquaporin-4 polarization along astrocytic endfeet and dilated meningeal lymphatic vessels. Inhibiting glymphatic clearance abolished the removal of amyloid by multisensory 40 Hz stimulation. Using chemogenetic manipulation and a genetically encoded sensor for neuropeptide signalling, we found that vasoactive intestinal peptide interneurons facilitate glymphatic clearance by regulating arterial pulsatility. Our findings establish novel mechanisms that recruit the glymphatic system to remove brain amyloid.

• What I am doing:

• Trying to entrain my brainwaves to 40 HZ Gamma I use a 40 HZ flickering light for about an hour a day. amazon.com/dp/B08X4W6N5M?ps...

• Trying to entrain my brain to 40 HZ Gamma I listen to Binaural Beats and Monaural Beats rbd-pd-protocols.blogspot.c... an hour a day. This is my favorite file now. It is 250 HZ pulsed at 40 HZ (Gamma) monaural file. I chose 250 HZ because I think that is the frequency of the Tass gloves. Here is the file: 250hz pulsed at 40hz Isochronic.mp3 drive.google.com/file/d/14X...

• I will listen to the250 HZ pulsed at 40 HZ for 50 minutes, and then listen to the Binaural Beats files afterward.

• I use these $35 Bone Conduction Headphones amazon.com/dp/B0B15FN1Z2?re... to listen to the beats. They do not cover your ears so you can walk around and listen to beats and still be able to hear people and watch TV.

Thanks Bolt, very interesting. A couple of questions; in the Nature study, they used a "Teensy" microcontroller to sync the light and sound so that they could be used together. Did you do the same?

Also, since this works via the glymphatic system (which is active during sleep) do you use this stimulation at night?

Good questions: No I can't sync my light bulb and MP3 so I don't use them at the same time.

They sell gadgets that do sound and light at the same time. Maybe someday I will build something like that. Maybe flicker the light to the audio of the MP3 to sync them.

When it is warm sometimes I sleep on the futton on the porch, and then I play the 40 HZ all night. I don't play it in the bedroom as I don't think my wife would like that (but maybe I should ask).

great work. So how is it working?

you may want to rethink your strategy a bit and use 1070mm infrared light and pulse the 40hz along with continuous stimulation. I designed the Neuradiant 1070 and did the original human clinical trials with the Cognitolite and Vielight. I’ve been working and consulting on how to optimize photobiomodulation and neurofeedback in treating neurodegenerative and functional challenges for quite a while. Happy to discuss what may be useful. See quietmindfdn.org
