I take sinamet comtan and amantadine. Recently my foot flop has gotten worse. I can’t tell if I should take my medicine sooner than usual.

Foot flop? I had foot drop. Caused by damage to the nerve that lifts my toes while walking or running.

By foot flop, do you mean your forfoot seems to slap down when walking??My HWP with mild symptoms( balance / gait / forward posture got improvements with CL.

However... he was falling forward after a slow jog when he tried to stop jogging to walk. His Brooks running shoes at the time had a 12 mm heel drop. This means his heel was elevated significantly forcing his balance forward.

He switched to a Topo shoe with a 4 mm heel drop( much flatter) and his forefoot now starting to slap down with walking. We then went midway between those heel drops to a Saucony walking shoe with an 8mm heel drop and both issues resolved.

Heel drop is very important in selecting your walking shoes.

Some pwp can benefit from even a rocker bottom shoe.

Find a pedorthist, or a sports Med podiatrist to assist u...or google the heel drop of various walking /running shoes and experiment with what works best to improve gait and balance.
