"These findings suggest that honokiol has protective and curative functions against motor deficits and dopamine-responsive progressive impairment in mice with 6-OHDA-induced lesions. This may be due to the modulation of NOS signaling. Honokiol can potentially serve as a therapeutic agent for treating neurological symptoms and neuronal degeneration in PD..."
No but I am thinking of buying Dr Isaac Elias's product. He has done a lot of research into it, along with modified citrus pectin; another amazing product. Expense is of course the issue. It was on a great offer after the recent Parkinson's solutions summit; need to look out for a similar offer.
it sounds like this should not be taken by someone who is taking blood thinners or prescription sleep medication.
"Taking magnolia bark along with drugs that promote sleep or treat anxiety, such as sedatives, sleep medications, and barbiturates, may cause drowsiness. This can make it unsafe for you to drive a vehicle or use heavy machinery."
It should always be taken with food, not on an empty stomach. I've had the bests results with it when taking it with dinner. Taking it just before bed can interfere with sleep and make you very groggy the next day. It "should be consumed with meals due to the fat-solubility of the active ingredients":
Isaac's product honokiol combined with citrus pectin, pectaclear and pectasol (citrus pectin alone,), should be taken apart from food and meds, per the label. I read somewhere else it can be taken with food also?
Yes, that's my difficulty - I'm a real grazer & comfort eater and my stomach is only really empty in the morning! So I haven't bought it yet (although I am taking another brand of cheaper modified citrus pectin every morning; not sure if that's doing me any good or not - noticed recently that their dose is way lower than Isaac's)
I've taken it for a few years. I believe BoltUpright noted in past that Swanson has Magnolia Bark extract (which has Honokiol oil) for pretty cheap. I take at night on empty stomach without any problems, but everyone is different
