I look askance at any health guru who attributes almost all illnesses to a single cause, in this case lectins, and who sells thee solution - ta da - "Lectin Shield" which is primarily vitamin C & D & zinc (for a mere $49.99/bottle)

Why does being a heart surgeon qualify him as a nutritionist?

Most, but not all, lectins are not good for us, but he exaggerates the harm.

I give him a D-.

Regarding gundry's book plant paradox:

nutritionstudies.org/the-pl...

"Many of his references do not support his statements or are misrepresented...

[see link for list]...

These are just a few examples from the first couple of chapters. What makes this particularly insulting is that this author is a highly credentialed biomedical professional. Surely he should know what a reference should be and what counts as robust “scientific literature.” How then can he reference his claims so poorly? This has got to be either willful negligence or astonishing incompetence.."

I have to admire Gundry's undoubted ability as a salesman. He would do well with used cars.

We do know that the inflammatory lectins in grains are dangerous and other foods like animal dairy and sugary foods increase our risks of chronic disease.

However, in his rambling video, he seems to imply that we can eat almost all the really bad western food if we take his pills.

Wow, what a snake-oil salesman!

There is some really good food research dating back before Gundry was born; it just isn't talked about by western medical practitioners because there is no profit in people getting well.

I suggest you ignore Gundry and look at the more measured and sensible food approaches from others.

I've not done the food isolation thing but when I adhere strictly to a carnivore diet, my pain reduces substantially and I am able to move more freely. Whether affected by gluten, lectins, oxalates, tannins etc I've no idea but at least for me, carnivore works.

How long have you been on carnivore diet? Does it help with PD or just pain? And are you still eating gluten etc?

2-1/2 years on carnivore and I avoid gluten. Both keto and carnivore have been shown to help PD along with fasting. Dr Anthony Chafee's elderly father with PD responded well to carnivore. Something that PwP need to be careful about on carnivore is constipation - keep properly hydrated, plenty of salt and drink ACV or lemon juice in water to maintain healthy stomach acid levels.

That reminds me, when I was younger it seems I heard an awful lot about how too much red meat will give you colon cancer, vague mentions about acids, I never really followed it up at the time it was quite some time ago. I wonder what happened to all that lore?
