I recently started taking 1 gabapentin 300 mg nightly because of my severe nerve pain and to help me sleep as nothing I have tried has helped only for a little while. I was desperate. Its great for sleep but after only 3 or 4 nights I am waking up to not just nerve pain in my left tremor arm but also my right and both shoulders. Has anyone heard of this..that gabapentin can actually make your nerve pain worse ? I am panicking because I will have nothing to help me sleep if I quit this but more pain is a nightmare as I already have excruciating pain .
Gabapentin: I recently started taking... - Cure Parkinson's
Gabapentin
Hi Butterfly Grandma I am a wife of aPWP
I injured my knee 3 years ago and was prescribed gabapentin as I am allergic to codeine based and other pain killers
The gabapentin did absolutely nothing for the pain, disrupted my sleep further and ‘put me on edge’
I stopped taking them and other than having to tolerate the pain again felt back to normal 😊
I hope this helps a little and you find some proper relief soon BD
Have you tried THC? Works well for me-
gaba makes my symptoms worse to say the least. you can try a low dose, 25 mg, of seroquel....works well for me most of the time. hang tough.
Does seroquel help pain ? I read it has a. Black box label for suicidal thoughts.
no help with pain for me....the black box applies to doses for psychosis which i dont have. the low dose im using is for sleep.
Is THC an option for you? I use THC gummies ("edibles," and always indica strain, not sativa) for sleep, and they help with pain as well. About 7-8 mg per night works well for me, but when I first started (several years ago), I only took about 5 mg.
Maybe you could try Lyrica (Pregabalin)? It is another drug for nerve pain that for some people is absorbed better, thus works better than Gabapentin. It is more expensive, unfortunately, and is theoretically addictive, so some Drs are reluctant to prescribe it, but when it works it's like a miracle. It can make you dizzy/sleepy, which is nice for bedtime, though of course you have to be careful during the day.
My husband takes it long term for nerve damage from foot surgery...after Gabapentin did nothing. (And he happens to be a pain Dr. himself. Just sayin :o)
Hi when I was diagnosed with of my
Neurologist thought that I had a trapped
Nerve in c 5 /c6 which can cause tremor
My gp prescribed pregabalin which helped
I took it for about a year then came off it
Physical exercise in that area can help
Nerve pain along with deep massage
I have every 4 weeks , it’s the usual you have to chuck your own money at it good luck
