Did PD start on your right side or left side?

I am interested to know if your symptoms started on your less dominate side, I am VERY right handed and my symptoms are mainly in my left arm at the moment. I wondered if this is because this side is weaker? If this is a thing no doubt someone will have researched it?

My PD started with dragging my right foot and dribbling from the right side of my mouth. I'm very much right handed. Hope this helps.

have you found anything that helps to not drag your foot? My husband has the same problem, He is going back to PT soon. He just wishes could walk normal.

I'm taking Madopar 4 x 100/25 each day and at the moment I'm walking normally.

I'm right handed and it's my left side that's affected so far 3 years in.

Right handed and first symptoms were on my left side; now 10 years since DX, and is bilateral. Return of symptoms in off periods still starts on the left; my left upper arm is always more painful and can be stiff to the point of useless. Tremor affects both to the same degree.

Right handed, and tremor started on right hand

I'm right-hand dominant and my symptoms first appeared on the right side. Although these days I would consider myself left-hand dominant, since PD has limited my right side coordination.

Any right handed but left symptom PWP have intention tremor rather than resting? Just testing a theory after seeing this noted elsewhere (also applies to me).

I too am right handed and my symptoms are predominantly on my left side.

Bang goes my theory then, looks like handedness does not play a part, I feel 'lucky' then that it affects my left and I am right handed.

Rt side for me. My dominant side. Left came later and not as bad. I learned to do a lot more with my left.

I'm right handed. I had tremor in my right hand, right thumb to start with. 11 years in and only now seems to be affecting the left side arm.

I am right handed when it comes to writing, for everything else I prefer to use my left hand and foot. For instance, I always carry my handbag on my left shoulder, if I have to climb stairs I always start with my left foot, I used to play basketball at school always using my left hand. Strangely, my first and only symptom at the time of my diagnosis was that within a few months my whole body became relatively slow as if I was carrying a bag of stones. It was bilateral, affecting both sides of my body to exactly the same extent. This has not changed since my diagnosis five years ago.I have whole-body shaking which is also bilateral and equally bad on both sides.

I’m right handed and PD started on my right, first is right leg with tremors then pain in right ankle, my hand is stiffed so I have to do hand exercises. I also have neck pain and shoulder blade pain but only on the left. Besides that, I am aching from head to toe :-(

Cutie2001, have you looked into Vit B1 (Thiamine) Therapy? I am on it and it is working great so far.

Yes, I have been on B1 for the last 2 years, 500mg once a day, should I increase it and if so how much and how often? Thank you for your reply.

Are you in the Facebook group? Lots of good advice in there. If you take too much your symptoms come back, I am now on a much lower dose. facebook.com/groups/parkins...
