Frustration with Attempts to Use the B1 Protocol

For two years, I've been trying to find my optimal level of B1, without success. I've tried to find it by observing whether each level that I tried alleviated my constipation.

I tried the oral method (using B1 HCL) first, but found that the level kept changing depending upon the level of constipation.

So I've been trying the so-called "sub-lingual" B1 Mononitrate method, allowing it to dissolve in my mouth and then holding the solution there for increasing amounts of time, from 25 minutes to 40 minutes (so far). There is no B1 sub-lingual pill, but this was the closest to using it sub-lingually that I could find.

So far, I can't tell whether this has worked or not. I may have gotten a slight alleviation of constipation at when I kept the B1/Saliva solution in my mouth for 35 minutes (then spitting it out), but I'm not sure of this.

I haven't tried alleviating the constipation by using fiber products like Psyllium husks, or laxatives (except during breaks) because I'm using constipation as my indicator, and don't want to "muddy the waters."

It's very frustrating. I'd appreciate some practical advice. For two years, I've been trying to find my optimal level of B1, without success. I've tried to find it by observing whether each level that I tried alleviated my constipation.

Relief of Parkinson's constipation depends upon two factors - increasing peristalsis and increasing moisture content / lubrication. High dose thiamine does the first but not the second. For that you need something additional. Details here:

This is just a thought, have you been writing these things down on paper? Sometimes it’s easier to see a pattern if you write specifics down on paper. Maybe do a spreadsheet with meds, what time you take them, what you eat, how you feel & when you go. You could even share it with your neurologist. Keep fighting ! 🥊

It is not clear from what you wrote if you have ever found any symptom relief from taking B1? If you have never gotten symptom relief, it is possible that you are not a responder to B1 as some forum members have reported .

To find the right B1 dose you need to monitor ALL symptoms.

And for constipation I recommend a large spoonful of flaxseeds on your cereal every morning.

I have been wanting to talk with you about B1 therapy. Will you send me your email address please? I can send you mine if you like.

I’m afraid I don’t give out my email address. I am already overwhelmed each day with people who contact me on my Facebook group and messenger. I suggest you join our group, where you will find lots of information and help and support from many people as well as me!

It sounds as if you're not using a tablet that is made for sublingual absorption. If so, the molecules may not be absorbed properly. As far as I know, t he only truly sublingual tablet is made by Superior Source. If you're in the US, you can find it on Amazon. If you're in the UK, you may have to look for it elsewhere.

I'm using Superior Source B1 100mg Micro-Lingual Instant Dissolve Tablets. I've been told that this so-called "micro-lingual" tablet isn't the same as a sub-lingual, and that a true sub-lingual B1 tablet doesn't exist. There may be some that have B1 as one of the ingredients, however.

Good to know. Thanks.

it never did anything for me as far as I can tell. Maybe I’m not as assiduous in charting symptoms but then again, if you’ve really got to monitor at such levels, I’d suggest that there’s an element of placebo at work 😵‍💫
