"12. Conclusions

KGDHC is rate limiting for energy production by the TCA cycle and new research demonstrates the exciting role KGDHC plays in the cell including the response to oxidative stress, cell signaling, post-translational modification, epigenetics, and diverse metabolic pathways as well as the surprisingly specific signal changes. These intriguing results support the hypothesis that thiamine-dependent enzymes like KGDHC are important therapeutic targets to treat diseases from neurodegeneration to cancer."

Wow, that sounds fantastic! And from a vitamin, apparently?

What does it mean?

My understanding reading (skimming) the article is they don't really differentiate thiamine from benfotiamine. I think they looked at studies that used either.

Benfotiamine is similar to thiamine (vitamin B1), but is absorbed by the body better than thiamine. The body changes benfotiamine to thiamine. Since the body absorbs benfotiamine better than thiamine, benfotiamine can increase how much thiamine is in the body.

SO Bolt- do you take B1? Type? Are you considering switching to benfotiamine?

I don't take B1. I might consider Benfotiamine, but need to reduce my stack before I add anything new.

I’ve been taking TTFD for three months and it’s not moved the needle to the best of my knowledge. I’m using 100mg from EO Nutrition. Given I have symptoms of dysautonomia I’ve given adding this supplement to my stack a huge amount of thought and delayed several times. Not dead yet. I started with twice a week. Up to daily now.
