Hwp started Azilect a week ago and is quite nauseous from the med. Does the nausea get better with time? Have you found ways to mitigate this side effect that worked for you? Thank you in advance!

Nausea with Azilect (rasagiline)
did you start with a low dose?
MAO-B inhibitors such as Azilect only have a modest effect anyway. Not worth suffering a lot of adverse effect for the amount of benefit in my opinion.
I switched the azilect to pm dosage before bed for a while until I was able to tolerate it.This worked for me
i take azilect with no issue but when i hv unbranded rsgasilene i am nauseous. The coating is different
I threw up the first time I took it(in the morning). Started to take it in the night with no problem. I agree with park bear I am not sure it’s worth the limited benefit if you continue to experience nausea
Just a thought...rasagaline is a targeted MAO-B inhibitor which means you aren't supposed to have to watch what you eat, but, if you eat tons and tons of fermented foods (or something else with tyramine in it. A supplement?) I've heard it could theoretically cause a problem.
Super aged cheese? Kimchi? Just wondering...
I felt quite sick, especially in the morning after I first took Azilect. The nausea never went away and my daughter suggests I take a anti nausea drug with it (like people who have cancer). I talk to my neuro and he gave me a prescription for it. I took it and the nausea stopped. For me, Azliect did not do a great deal in treating my PD - I still need a fair amount of levodopar but it seems to provide a basis and helps to smooth out the fluctuations. About 2 years later it was substituted by another drug by my neuro by a similar but newer drug called Xadago. I had no problem commencing on this new drug.
