B1 and High Blood Pressure

My family member with Parkinson's has high blood pressure which even with Losartan is not as controlled as we would like it. I was encouraged reading the posts here about how B1 has helped some of those here with PD. In doing research on B1 I see that increasing blood pressure could be a side effect. Has any one had this effect with B1 or know more about it? Thanks!

It might affect blood pressure if the dose is too high for the person. The aim is to find a dose which triggers symptom improvement without it being too high and causing symptoms you don’t want.

Have you read the book “Parkinson’s and the B1 therapy”? Available on all amazons.

Or join the Facebook group facebook.com/groups/parkins...

Or watch the video of an interview on B1 therapy.

I found that my periods of High Blood Pressure coincided with what would be considered off-time for C/L. I say "would be considered" my HBP is the only symptom that returns before my next dose of C/L is due....

I changed from 2-1/2 twice a day (5 a day) to 6am (1-1/2), 11:30am (1-1/2) and (2) 5pm [ less time between doses of C/L and the less time between doses helped tremendously to bring my BP under control ]

yes, my husband had high blood pressure and , in his case 2000mg of B1 sent his blood pressure through the ceiling. We are trying again SLOWLY this time. We are up to1000mg.

Coincidentally his blood pressure has stabilised some more recently. I’m wondering if, as mentioned in some research I just read, it’s happened because he’s now taking high dose Vitamin C (for his constipation).

Thank you...sounds like you are working to find the right dose. I am working on getting her BP readings consistently now that we have lessened her white coat syndrome...each time we would take it. That is getting better now so I feel I have a better read on the what the readings really are. Wanted to get a better baseline BP readings before starting B1.
