No, I have not lost fat. Maybe some muscle, but not fat. I'm taking GOCOVRI which is 274 gr. of Amantadine. 🥊

I have lost weight (about 18lb) - mainly fat- and am taking 200g Amantadine daily. But I also take Rasagiline, co-beneldopa, Ropinirole, Opicapone and supplements. So 🤷‍♀️ . Anybody else?

I introduced Amantadine on advice of my neurologist to my cocktail of C/L Rasagiline and Ropinirole just 2 months ago to deal with fatigue and other related issues. It has worked for its intended purpose, but I have started to perspire a lot at night so one consequence of that may in time be loss of weight/fat. There are other possible culprits (as usual with PD and its medication), so I cannot say for sure. I would be anxious about weight or muscle loss as the ability to exercise regularly and strenuously is at the core of my regime to deal with this bloody disease!

what do you recommend

I would be looking for something else to replace it. I can’t help with what that should be but if you’re convinced amantadine is the cause then take advice on the alternatives.

I was diagnosed 13 years ago. I started amantadine 3 years ago. I am also on sinemet, entacapone, and selegiline. I have also lost about 10 lbs. i feel the PD from moving so much is the cause I was thin already.

I have to wonder if it is simply PD that causes the weight loss. I am not on any of the meds listed in the earlier replies yet I have lost weight too, about 20-25 lbs. very bothersome seeing as I have always had issues gaining weight prior to PD
