Do you think hormone imbalance has anything to do with Parkinsons, hormones play a big factor with neurotransmitters. Have any Women with PD felt a difference if you take hormone replacement after menopause. I'm sure mens hormones change as well, but no familiar with that. Just curious. Thank you, Maria🌺

Menopause is a natural part of aging. Diabetes and other hormone imbalances, not so much. We need to look upstream at the hypothalamus and it's regulatory role in balancing hormones and neurotransmitters. As well as the role hypothalmic injury from neurotoxic chemical exposure plays in neurodegenerative disorders.

Some neurotransmitters also act as hormones, such as catecholamines (adrenaline, norepinephrine, and dopamine). These can be produced by the adrenal glands and discharged into the bloodstream, exerting a hormonal effect; and at the same time, they are released in the nerve endings, acting as neurotransmitters.
