It was actually a short procedure, less than an hour.
Anesthesia has advanced a lot! A nerve block allows minimal anesthesia, keeps you just under but no waking nausea, not too much fogginess.
. They also put an injected anesthetic in my shoulder which releases slowly for as much as five days(more usually around 3). The idea being to minimize use of pain meds which I really haven’t needed so far.
Most challenging for me is keeping up with icing hourly, initial mobilizing exercises, and being dependent on my husband for so much. I realize I don’t feel worthy of his generous support. That’s for me to chew on.
A question…
My upper back is sore from the weight of my arm in the sling. Anyone used a sling and found a solution to this?

I've broken my shoulder twice and had surgery once. Thinking of you xx Try and rest your arm on a small cushion tucked under the sling when you're sitting. I also found sleeping sitting up a pain but it helped to support the sling. Take care.
Happy to hear it was shorter, successful and is over so you can get back to hiking up the road a bit. By the way, when I see your handle, it reminds me of the monster Reptar on Rugrats that I used to watch with my boys when they were small and I did not have PD.😃Eric
Thanks for the update rebtar-glad to hear things went well and you have support of your husband. Perhaps he too is helping to heal a cultural imbalance.
