It was actually a short procedure, less than an hour.
Anesthesia has advanced a lot! A nerve block allows minimal anesthesia, keeps you just under but no waking nausea, not too much fogginess.
. They also put an injected anesthetic in my shoulder which releases slowly for as much as five days(more usually around 3). The idea being to minimize use of pain meds which I really haven’t needed so far.
Most challenging for me is keeping up with icing hourly, initial mobilizing exercises, and being dependent on my husband for so much. I realize I don’t feel worthy of his generous support. That’s for me to chew on.
A question…
My upper back is sore from the weight of my arm in the sling. Anyone used a sling and found a solution to this?
