Vitacost is back in stock with 500 mg / 300 capsules of Vitamin B1 for $25.47 plus tax and shipping is free!

There was a series of B1 articles and videos recently released or rereleased that may have temporarily affected supply vs demand. Their overall B1 stock appears to be up. Same with Swanson, iHerb and Amazon.

Thank you Art! My favorite (first one I tried) is back in stock at the evil empire! Solgar Vitamin B1 (Thiamin) 500 mg.
It still says out of stock for me
I just clicked the link in my post and added it to my cart and it never said out of stock??? When they were out of stock before, it said out of stock and it was grayed out.
Art
Weird. Maybe they are keeping it just for the US if it’s short? Solgar says the same.
It's funny that you put it that way because that's what Roy said China was doing, keeping it for themselves, but it appears that the US may be the ones keeping it for themselves!
Art
I tried to order from Canada and I could not. I did it from US and it is working. So Roy conspiracy theory is backwards!
😀 Biden new slogan: America first!
Perhaps vitacost have trouble with the international mail system. Although I was able to order other things, so no. Yeah, I reckon they are rationing it.
Do you think the government has banned shipping it out as it may be a possible coronavirus treatment?
I don’t think so.
What do you think?
Art
Same as ion_ion’s reply.
ddmagee1,
I'm confused, my reply says essentially the same thing as ion ion, which was a tongue in cheek reply. Meaning Roy was suggesting a Chinese conspiracy to hoard B1 and since LAJ could not get the B1 in her country I gave the backward example that ion ion referred to which again was another tongue in cheek reply.
In any case, I thought the reason was because of the recent rereleasing of old and new B1 videos and articles along with the newer articles and videos suggesting that B1 might be useful in fighting Covid-19 and didn't really have anything to do with any government conspiracy by China or the US. We saw all kinds of shortages of zinc, vitamin c, vitamin d and quercetin in 2020/ 2021 due to Covid-19 so it seemed reasonable since Covid-19 is still in the world.
The truth is that I have no idea what exactly caused the temporary shortage of B1 and I hope my poor attempt at humor did not ruffle anyone's feathers and I apologize if I did offend anyone.
This is what is hard about trying to do humor on a message board where people reading can't see you and your facial expressions and body language. It is easy to be misunderstood and taken the wrong way.
Art
No problems! Who knows for sure about conspiracies, but I was merely trying to convey that I didn’t think it was because of a conspiracy, from the USA, to hoard B-1! Facial expressions and body language to convey tongue-in-cheek humor, like through FaceTime, or Zoom, probably would have conveyed the humor better! You are right! No offense taken!
Shows out of stock for me
Vitacost In Stock
Two months or more ago, Customer Service told me that the out of stock is corrected by using different browser
That’s odd. I just chatted with a customer service rep who indicated they are unsure of when it will be back In Stock 🤔
The web page says in stock.
It's so weird. I tried another browser and same thing... I asked for a email when it is back in stock and I just got an email saying the wait is over and it is back in stock, yet when I click on it.. It says OUT OF STOCK! Maybe because I am Canadian
No, if anything the government is going to give it no credence at all, just as it has with every other alternative that has shown any benefit against Covid-19. If they say anything, they will say something like it is untested and unproven and then show zero interest in it .

Actually b1 isn’t mentioned in the second one
Yes and Dr. Costantini also used it in non PD patients who had other diseases that caused extreme fatigue and he found it quite helpful to relieve the fatigue part of the disease! Here is a few links to something he posted about Thiamine for fatigue :

If I change the 'deliver to' Australia flag (top right hand corner) to United States and enter a valid post code, miraculously they become available. Change back to Australia and they are out of stock.
Maybe not the best place for this question but I will try ... Due to the lack of B1 HCL a friend got me B1 as thiamin mononitrate. Will it have an effect like B1 HCL, I don't know if I can try that?
Mononitrate is harmful over time.
Hi there On what ground do you say that - it can be harmful? Do you have some extra information, or link to share?
Roy,
Can you link to the data that shows that thiamine mononitrate is "harmful over time"?
Art
Perhaps because it is not water-soluble like the HCL type..
Quote:
"There are two forms of thiamine often used in vitamin B1 supplements - thiamine hydrochloride and thiamine mononitrate. They are both synthetic, however thiamine hydrochloride (HCl) is water-soluble, unlike thiamine mononitrate. This makes it harder to manufacture, but much more effective as a supplement as the body can absorb it easier. That's why we only use thiamine hydrochloride in our vitamin B1 supplement."

Hi Gio,
According to the NIH, Thiamine HCI is water soluble and Thiamine Mononitrate is water soluble.
ods.od.nih.gov/factsheets/T...
Here is a quote from their report :
>>> ' The most commonly used forms of thiamin in supplements are thiamin mononitrate and thiamin hydrochloride, which are stable and water soluble [1,12]. '<<<
What I'm interested in finding out is where Roy found the data that says it is 'harmful over time ' as I would like to read it. So far I have not found it, so I hope that Roy posts it.
Art
In fact, the first is stable and used in food (mononitrate)and the second is water-soluble (HCL).
But beyond words, if this were not the case then all the others are wrong including wikipedia.
To me that stuff there (thiamine mononitrate) gave me a headache after used for a week and it doesn't work well.
Same thing some Amazon reviews say.
I prefer the centennial thiamine HCL which is very soluble and free of side effects. In my opinion this is standard HDT as per dr. C and it works the rest is an alteration.
Good to know, Gio! Thank you for the feedback. I am trying to get the data from Roy, because another forum member started HDT using thiamine mononitrate by mistake, not realizing there were different forms and her husband did quite well on the mononitrate form, but once they realized it was the wrong type, they switched to thiamine HCI. Unfortunately her husband did not do as well as he did on the mononitrate form and since she now knows that thiamine mononitrate is water soluble and would like to put her husband back on it. I just gave a friend thiamine HCI yesterday at 200 mg and he told me he would not take it anymore because it gave him a headache after about a half hour and he said he almost never gets headaches.
We are all different and her husbands experience seems to be the exact opposite of your experience, so if the mononitrate version is harmful, as Roy said it is, I want to be sure she is aware of it and that is why I am asking him for the data that shows that it is harmful, from Roy. I have not been able to find data that confirms what Roy said, so I hope he answers.

Art, I posted this earlier. Must not have completed. Here again:

Dear Roy,
Sorry for my late, but unfortunately I can not speak English well, so it's Dr Erika Trevi who is writing these emails to you.
We don't use benfothiamine because previous trials report it does not enter in the neural cells, that's why it is not used for the diseases which don't affect the Central Nervous System (Bettendorff L.).We administer thiamine cloridrate. For your situation 1 intramuscular injection twice a week (or an oral dose of 4 grams each day, two tablets in the morning and two at lunch time) should bring to the complete regression of the symptoms in 1 or 2 months. As an attached link, you'll find a paper with the possible thiamine side effects.
In another email, I'll send you all my published studies.
Best regards,
Antonio Costantini
.
Yes, I saw your previous reply Roy, but that letter from Dr. Costantini is referring to Benfotiamine, not Thiamine Mononitrate, which you had said in a reply above in this thread, was " harmful over time". That is the data or link I am looking for that explains why thiamine mononitrate is harmful over time. I have been looking for that data and have not been able to find it yet and was hoping you would post it. Thank you.

B1 (thiamine hcl) source

.
O thanks for the reply!
Can I spend at least something (I got 5 boxes) or better not?
Five boxes of what?
5 boxes of B1 as thiamin mononitrate (Vitamatic Vitamin B1 (Thiamine) 500mg, 120 Capsules)
I don’t know at what amount would be unhealthy. I would use while waiting for hcl. We’re talking 4g a day.
Thanks! I use 2g a day.
Basic (B) - (1) 1nstructions. B1 in the form of thiamine hcl is required for HDT (high dose thiamine) therapy.
Regarding thiamine hcl, it is not a cure. It is at its best supporting carbidopa levodopa. Solgar tablets are choke hazard. Find capsules as they are easy swallow.
Doctor Costantini directed:
Early or mild symptoms - 2 grams daily.
Moderate symptoms - 4 grams daily.
Severe symptoms - 6 grams daily.
Divide into two equal doses. Take first dose at breakfast. Take second before lunch.
I
Before starting with full dose take a small amount and watch for any allergic reaction.
