I think that PwP's knew that the tandem cycle experiment could give us some benefits according to research. John Pepper's experience extolling the virtues of fast walking apparently has similar benefits.

The reverse is true also. Read on:

When your walking partner is a black Labrador the reverse is true! He sets a fine pace. Except when he has to stop for a sniff or a stick or a jump in the river...... ok well maybe he does slow us down🤣
