My husband has added Inulin, a form of powdered chicory root, puts it in porridge oats in the morning. He added it as a resistant starch, as it is a pre- biotic fibre that has been linked to better gut health. Does seem to be helping with constipation.

I think that will be very helpful for your husband!

It sounds like a good thing to try. Harmless and possibly very helpful. Is it a powder?

Well you can get a powder, I myself bought some coffee with chicory in it off Amazon. If you don’t drink coffee then the powder would be a perfect way for you to use it and mix in your drinks!

Yes it’s a fine white powder slightly sweet in taste and he easily adds it to porridge at breakfast but I would imagine you could add it to drinks. I googled a supplier and got it from a health food company.

Ok you are speaking about the inulin right? Zella23? In my reply I was speaking about chicory which has all the benefits in the study. Chicory is usually the roasted root of the chicory plant and is used as a coffee substitute or added to coffee which is how I consume it. I buy a bag of real coffee that already has chicory in it. I have purchased plain chicory which is a brown nutty flavored powder that dissolves in liquids. Chicory root contains lots of inulin. Both are very beneficial

Started making chicory root coffee. I like it. Never did like regular coffee though.

Compound from chicory reveals possible treatment strategy for neurodegenerative disorders

What would be the most similar to what was use in the trial?

Well I would think since they state compound FROM chicory, that inulin would be most similar. I have recently come across information though that chicory and inulin in particular activate the complement pathway in the immune system and could possibly worsen covid. So until I get a better understanding about this I personally am stopping chicory and inulin containing herbs and foods.
