I purchased some high potency B1 only to then read it should not contain magnesium which unfortunately it does.

Please could someone recommend a supplier?

I live in the UK

Thank you

I buy my thiamine from Blackburn Distributors in powder form. It’s the best I have come across.

‘...only to then read it [B1] should not contain magnesium which unfortunately it does.’

Just curious. Why should there be no magnesium in B1 pills/capsules ? 🌺

The reason is because you will likely OD on magnesium if you are taking a high dose of B1. Keep in mind that you are also getting some magnesium from food and if you happen to be taking a multivitamin or magnesium supplement or both, even more so the possibility of magnesium OD. On the other hand there is a certain amount of synergy between magnesium and B1.

Ok I understand.

But a 500 mg B1 pill will likely contain no more than 25% of Magnesium daily requirements.

So on a 2,000 mg dose ( 2 gm /4 pills) you will likely end up with just 100% of daily requirements. Don’t see a problem on 4gm either.

The real issue is, how much magnesium is in the B1 pill.

And I dare bet each pill has it no more than 25% daily requirements🌺

Taken in the context of where Dr. Costantini was when he advised people not to use B1 that contained magnesium, he was advising a starting dose of 4 grams for everyone which he later learned was too much for most people outside of Italy. In that context, his comment made perfect and practical sense.

Hi. Thank you for reply. I can only see 100mg on there.

How long ago did you order yours please?

Hi again

Just looked again and found the 500mg. May I just ask you to have a look at the ingredients to make sure it doesn’t contain magnesium. The ingredients picture is blurred on the website.

Sorry to bother you.

Thank you. Jo

There are 500 mgs tablets from a company called G and G on Amazon U.K. My husband has taken them for over a year now. He use to take Solgar 500mgs but they were so huge and difficult to get down. The G and G ones are capsules so much easier to swallow.

Hi Zella

Thank you for the reply. Yes that is a good point about the swallowability of these tablets.

Unfortunately I have ordered from Indigo but have emailed them to ask what they are (capsule or tablet). If I can I will cancel and re-order.

All the best to you and your hubby.

I'm confused. What is the problem of having magnesium OverDose (too much)?

A number of Nutritionists say magnesium is never enough (or too much) especially for who takes meds, because also but not only directly involved in body detox.

Which are the symptoms of magnesium overdose?

Does it impact B1 effectiveness?

Thank you for any comments/info
