Last week in Virginia, the first Medical CBD Oil Dispensary opened. We live in North Carolina and it will be hundreds of years before anything is approved here. So, in order to have access to the Medical CBD Oil, we will have to move to Virginia. Unfortunately, we can’t test it first to see if it works. So, our only option is to take a chance and move to Virginia.
Does anyone have any experience using the Medical CBD oil? (This isn’t the CBD Oil that is from the Hemp plant.).
Any information would be appreciated!
Thank you!!!

The CBD you buy anywhere is very different from the CBD you get from a state licensed dispensary. I know. I've had both.
Moving, though, for CBD oil seems pretty dramatic. Shouldn't you try some 1st and see if it's worth the move? If it cured you of PD that might be worthwhile, but you may find it only provides minimal relief.
It would be great if you could try it first. But legally you can’t. The hemp oil isn’t the same. And this is the oil from the state licensed dispensary. Did it help you?
The CBD I bought from local retail stores and head shops did nothing. I have children in Florida and they mail me CBD oil they buy from state license dispensaries with the prescription and it relieves me of tremor for 2- 3 hours at a time, but it's often mixed with THC, which I don't like because it makes me even slower.
Offer to pay a resident a little extra who can get it with the prescription and mail it.
Medical grade CBD oil (always less than 0.3% THC) can come in various concentrations of CBD from 250 mgs. to above 1,000 mgs per 30 ml. container. So, if it has more than 0.3% THC it isn't coming from a state dispensary, or shouldn't come because it is defined differently as MARIJUANA...Sounds to me like what you take varies too much to be classified as pure medical.
Formulations will vary on where the dispensary sources its CBD oil. Furthermore, the "extraction" process varies (CO2 v ethanol) when making medical CBD oil, but it is critical in determining quality. Not all medical CBD use the same process or similar QC protocols...
Do state dispensaries test every lot for purity and concentration? Good question. Lets hope so, but I doubt it.
I have heard mixed results from my support group members. Certainly not a miracle compound regardless of the marketing hype. For mild pain ...yes; PD? Doubtful.
My daughter got it from a state license dispensary in Florida from a prescription. She mailed it to me in the unopened box. It was ingested by vape. The container said 1:1. My daughter believes that means is half CBD and half THC. It did quell my tremor, but had too much THC for my liking. (Generally speaking, they are not into regulation in Florida - to wit, the Covid capital of the country. )
You actually were s****d enough to "vape" it after your FUS brain surgery? Tell me your kidding me.
I don't believe anyone is that s****d unless they are alcoholic or a dadd. To think vaping cannabis has no impact on your brain or lungs is beyond ludicrous.
The American Journal of Preventive Medicine published the first study on the long-term health effects of electronic cigarettes. Their study included 32,000 adults in the U.S., none of whom had signs of lung disease when the study started in 2013. Three years later, though, those who used e-cigarettes were 30 percent more likely to have developed a chronic lung disease, including asthma, bronchitis and emphysema, than to non-users.
and....
Officials at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention warned that most of the people who had died from vaping-related injuries had used products containing THC, which we both know is the psychoactive ingredient in marijuana. It created Six(6) times greater adverse events and complications than vaping nicotine.
To believe vaping it is "medical" is a ironic joke. We especially don’t know what the chemical composition is once it’s been combined, heated and inhaled.
Turns out I know someone in 1 of her support groups and they told me how she starts her meetings.
When the PWP are filing into the room she announces, "This is a Parkinson's support group. You are here because you are weak and need support, which I am more than capable of giving . Okay, all you walking cripples sit over on the left side the room, you lazy people in wheelchairs sit on the right side and all you dementia retards sit in back. If you think you have something important to say, don't bother. I already know it all. "
I've made this remark elsewhere, but perhaps the strategy is to make PD seem comparatively manageable? "I thought having PD was hard work. Then i went to the support group"
Ha. Yes, Sharon, I actually am that stupid, but thanks for the warning. I won't do it again. (But, if it matters, I've vaped a year before FUS.) (You do make assumptions.)
This appears to have been overlooked when you wrote your profile page as it is not listed with the other bragging there. Please amend. (Or is that what "aloe brunswick fellow" is? My apologies if so).
Here in Canada marijuana products from independent retail shops and products from the government are comparable. (In fact, sometimes the government stuff is worse!) I know the laws are different here though - - - this summer so many people were legally growing marijuana on their balconies and backyards!
One's interest in a specific product has more to do with the blends and ratios. For sleep, my dad uses a tincture from an independent shop - - - a blend of cbd oil and melatonin. It's helped him so much. For instant pain relief or to help him back to sleep in the middle of then night he uses a sublingual spray that is 18 parts cbd and 1 part thc. He doesn't like feeling high either, but the thc (the psychoactive part of marijuana) is so minimal and seems to help. Other people prefer a stronger ratio. He also uses an oil that is 100% cbd as a CYP3A4 inhibitor to help prolong his levodopa. We are still figuring out the dosage for this one and how it might help extend his meds. The 100% cbd does seem to help with pain throughout the day though.
I have a friend whose dad had cancer, and cbd helped with his pain. Eventually, my friend's mom grew the marijuana at home and learned to extract the cbd herself and it really helped with the cancer pain!
Also, I believe cbd comes from the sativa strain of marijuana.
Anyway, best of luck. You'll have to find the right ratio and dosage that works for you. Hopefully you can find someone to mail it to you.
Yes, I have, thank you! My dad was suffering from GERD so he had to avoid foods and drinks with higher acidity like Grapefruit juice so I was really thrilled to read that CBD is also a CYP3A4 inhibitor. His GERD is better now so we might eventually re-explore that route. For the moment, reaping the other benefits of CBD oil has been really comforting.
Just drive to Virginia buy it and mail it to yourself in North Carolina. or have someone mail it to you from another state. You can always say you don’t know who mailed it to you. Easy.
I used to go right through the airport with it in my purse, took it to my cousin in Texas for her cancer. They don’t pay attention to small amounts.
That would be nice if you could. You have to provide proof of Virginia residency and must have an authorization form from an approved doctor from Virginia. 😕
It’s legal where we live and my wife tried high CBD blended with low THC and a 50-50 blend and Low CBD blended with high THC. She tried this twice but we found no benefit so we let her license expire.
I use a tincture. 1:1 called Mary’s, take small amount. It’s sublingual. I also use kin slips (brand, excellent ). 5mg. Also sublingual. I prefer sublingual to vaping. I think safer. As a matter of fact I think it’s very safe. No side effects. I also think sublingual is a lot safer than smoking or vaping as well.
It’s *very* individual. Sadly, it didn’t really work for me. You need to find a pwp with a medical marijuana card in VA to buy some and send it to you. I live in PA and would send you what I have, but I don’t know what’s available in VA.
Hi Trish I’m in Australia and I use 10/30 CBD - 10%thc/30%cbd. I use it instead of increasing sinemet. It’s great. It slows the tremors and uncurls my cramping feet and toes. I can’t handle putting it under my tongue in liquid so I buy empty capsules from the pharmacy and put my 1ml in there and swallow whole. Takes a few minutes longer to work but at least I’m not vomiting. I experimented with the thc component as I have Atrial fibrillation and too much thc makes my heart thump. Good luck !!!!
Go on vacation to a place like Colorado where you can purchase and try CBD oil with THC while you are here. Some people take products home with them if they are driving home, but this is risky. You definitely can't take it home with you if you fly. I have not used it myself but have friends who say it is great to rub on painful joints. There are probably other states closer to you where visitors from other states can make purchases. It would be a lot less expensive if this is a state like Colorado where you can purchase recreational cannabis. If you go to a state that only has medical cannabis you will have to pay for a Dr. visit and probably an annual license to buy the products, and there are probably limits as to which medical conditions qualify for medical cannabis.
I would not recommend mailing it to yourself as this is a violation of Federal Postal regulations. I heard some people use FedEx.
I'm in NC also and I thought about moving there for medical marijuana when my daughter was hospitalized last year for intractable vomiting and nothing was working. We had her released when the kitchen gluten -ed her (she had been diagnosed with Celiac in the hospital) and she came home still severely underweight and vomiting. Fortunately after a day home it stopped. My husband said no to the move to VA plan anyway, but if the gluten free and low histamine diet had not worked ...
