"Amantadine is an antiviral medicine that blocks the actions of viruses in your body.

Amantadine is used to treat or prevent influenza A in adults and children. Amantadine may not be effective during every flu season because certain strains of the virus may be resistant to this medicine. Amantadine should not be used in place of getting a yearly flu shot. The Centers for Disease Control recommends an annual flu shot to help protect you each year from new strains of influenza virus.

Amantadine is also used to treat Parkinson's disease and "Parkinson-like" symptoms such as stiffness or tremors, shaking, and repetitive uncontrolled muscle movements that may be caused by the use of certain drugs

I take Amantadine. It has been very beneficial for me, controling my drooling and giving me energy. I have been using it twice a day for 4 1/2 months. Still feel energized and no noticible side effects. My neurologist mentioned the medication was first developed as a preventative for flu... a nice secondary benefit.

Keypeeoh,

Off topic, I lost my toy poodle 18 days ago. I don't know the reason, the board certified specialists will not talk to me to tell me the truth. He was hospitalized at Blue Pearl Emergency and Specialty Animal Hospital, Franklin, TN, three times (3 nights every time), they charged me more than $10,000.00 and still they will not come to the phone to talk to me. They had diagnosed him with Pancreatitis, Possible Liver Infection, and Low Platelet Count, but not a definite diagnosis. So they were medicating him with harsh meds based on possibilities!!!!

All I can say is to keep pushing for an answer. I suppose you could ask for a necropsy. But that means spending more money when it won't change things.

Your quote says it is for influenza A. Don’t think covid is an influenza A.
