It is not so much about the brand of B12 but whether your body is able to absorb it. Absorption of B12 is complicated and requires several steps in the G.I. tract. If for any reason any of the steps do not occur B12 is not absorbed and must be injected instead.

The only way I know of is to get your blood levels checked

Use sublingual methylcobalamin at large doses ranging from 2.5 to 5 mg/day. Sublingual is just as effective as and in some studies more effective than the intramuscular route.

Thank you for taking the time to reply. Am hoping that this may have a positive effect on Parkinson’s symptoms of brain fog/cognitive issues and insomnia. I see Solgar sells 1000 mcg and 5000 mcg. There are reviews that indicate 1000 is not enough and 5000 is too much. Your thoughts?

The following article addresses the safety of high dose cobalamin/B12 and it is eye opening. Consider when you are a victim of smoke inhalation and medical professionals intravenously administer a Cyanokit (and thus give you 5,000 mg /5 grams of hydroxocobalamin in 15 minutes). If you go to a doctor and have a B12 deficiency they give you a monthly shot of 1 mg of either hydroxocobalamin or cyanocobalamin. This means a Cyanokit contains a 417 year supply of B12 which is administered in 15 minutes. B12 is one of the safest supplements/drugs there is.

I take 2000 mcg a day of sublingual B-12. Not sure the brand matters, I buy what's on sale or I can find on Amazon--Solaray or Nature Made. A physician told me years ago to use sublingual or chewable vitamins when you can--they are absorbed better by the body. The other chewable/sublingual vitamins I take are D-3 and C; the rest I can only find in capsule form.

I've been using methycobalamine B12 but for awhile and have noticed pink tinge in my urine 3 times this month?? Wondering if that means I'm taking too much or is this normal? Just had the lab done so no results yet and urine cytology came out negative as well so thinking the pink in the pill is doing it. Any thoughts Mjm or is this a normal occurrence with you or others?
