It’s been a long time since I posted, I’m trying to overcome my OCD about PD, but I want to share what I’ve found.

I have Parkinson’s for sure. I was in denial for a long time. But, I have also a MTHFR 677T gene variant that means I only use at maximum 15% of normal folate. I bet that is common in PD. That sucks because it can make your PD worse not being able to use folate to methylate normally. Methylfolate helps but be very careful with it, especially if you have a b12 deficiency like I had. It also can cause extreme anxiety!

However, there is a simple, cheap, effective solution. B2 Riboflavin. It helps to normalize folate metabolism. It’s VERY common for low B2 in PD. My level was almost nothing when I checked them a little over a month ago. I’ve been taking 50 mg every 8 hours and eliminated red meat. I’ve been able to go down on c/l almost 40 percent in a month. Google B2 Parkinson’s, Coimbra. He had some amazing results of a trial in 2003. My neurologist who just retired had no idea about b2.

I’ve also got a lot of help from this link. I’m severely undermethylated type, have taken the supplements it suggests with great results mentally but also with symptoms. Inositol is great for OCD!

Good luck and Merry Christmas !

So sorry 38yroldmale. I have no info at all regarding B vitamins that I take and Parkinsons. I do not have PD, but my brother does.

What tests do you take to see if you methylate.??Thanks

genetic test for MTHFR. I used Ancestry.com to get my dna and sequencing.com to interpret. You can learn a ton about how body reacts to meds, what diseases you’re genetically predisposed for, and much more. However, it said that I was unlikely actually very unlikely to get Parkinsons?

There is Methylation Panel test offered by some labs which will give you information regarding your methylation status
