It has slowed my progression. I've been with RSB since January 2007. As a matter of fact I'm in this video! I'm in a burgundy t-shirt doing the speedbag at about the 1:48 spot.

Keep fighting!

We are starting this coming Tuesday! Can't wait as I have heard so many good comments about RSB.

Somehow I lost a reply I sent this morning about not having a Rock Steady Boxing (RSB) near you and what you can do to try to get one. Keep checking the website for new RSB affiliates opening. I'm not sure exactly when they started the affiliate program, but it keeps growing as we speak. RSB has over 880 affiliates. Now in all 50 states and 18 countries. This means you should check the website frequently to see if one has recently opened near you. Another thing that I know people have done is called their local fitness gyms, boxing gyms, YMCA's and inquired about them opening a RSB gym and/or having classes at their facility for PwP's (Persons with Parkinson's).

Someone asked if there are videos online for RSB? As far as I know there are not. You can go to YouTube and watch a few or a lot of videos that show boxers working out and see some of the things we do. But, there is nothing like being there and sharing the unity and comradery of RSB. You can workout to a DVD or go to a regular gym, but how often do you stick with it for 3 days a week for an hour or hour & 1/2? Most of us get thru a month or two & then quit & start up again & quit...….. At an RSB class you see others, just like you, showing improvement, you see PwP's helping each other as well as the coaches helping us and pushing us a little over the limit they know we can go and having us do things we never thought we could do and being proud of it and others giving you a good job or a fist bump. The coaches also learn things from us, seeing what works best and what doesn't. There's just an "energy" between us that is hard to explain. I call it the Rock Steady way.

The first time I went to an RSB class I could only jump rope one time, but I got stronger and stronger and now I can jump rope at least 60 times. And, don't worry if you can't do one jump at first, you'll get better, and they modify to what level you are with Parkinson's. They will modify it in some way you can achieve results. They might have you put the rope on the floor and step over it and then you'll progress to jumping over it, etc. So for now, give it all you have and workout as hard as you can and you'll begin to see some results. Don't just go thru the motions, make it burn a little. You can do it! There are hundreds of PwP's at all levels, in wheelchairs, with walkers and with canes that come to workout, so if they can do it YOU can too! It takes a little motivation, well maybe a lot, you just have to do it! Let me know how it goes.

Keep fighting!

hasfit.com/workouts/mma/#

I do this sometimes, lots of fast movements, coach breaks moves down to a number system, calls number combinations and does moves along with you. Some of my high kick attempts are laughable but must be good for balance! This link is to lesson number one

hasfit.com/workouts/home/ca...

Not designed for pwp but figure it must be beneficial and I combine boxing workouts and different hasfit workouts with other online programmes, including some specifically designed for parkinsons symptoms. All accessible for free but you can pay for higher level of organised programmes ( I don't!).

They do not have RSB in Albany NY. How does someone go about trying to find someone to start one in this area?

I don’t have any affiliation with him but Patrick Losasso has a boxing dvd for Parkinson’s. It’s sold on Amazon.

I think other vigorous intense exercising would help. I play pickleball 4-5 times a week and haven't progressed in three years

Thank you for sharing this video. I took my brother to a rocksteady boxing class about a year ago and now I can’t keep him away from it. He was very uncomfortable at first but now he plans his whole week to going to his classes.

I’ve noticed and over all change in his mental and physical and emotional health. And I can’t wait to show him this video. God bless you all. PS we live in Orlando and I think there are two places here.

They just opened another RSB class 2xwk even closer to our house and my brother just signed up for classes there. Now he has the option of going 5 days a wk if he wants. I’m so thankful as this seems to be the best thing to happen to him since his diagnosis 5 years ago.
