I happened to see Rock Steady Boxing mentioned today and checked the areas that it was in. For anyone in the Brandon, Plant City, Tampa, Fl area they have just opened another gym I think I am the first client. Really excited about it. Anyone in this area interested let me know and I will give you the phone # etc,

I really wish it would come to the uk. Maybe you can ask the organisers if they have any plans to bring it over here. My grandson in Yorkshire is a personal trainer and a boxer. Maybe there is a way to connect them?

The home web site is rocksteadyboxing.org maybe you could call them and see if they have plans for the UK. I think you have to go to Indianopolis, Indiana and get certified to teach rsb. I will be starting next Tuesday and my trainer is also a personal traineer who saw the website and decided to become a teacher. Their number is 888-217-0577 country code is 44. I will let you know how I do.

Hi MadgeB. I have been with RSB for almost 10 years (3 mths shy of the beginning). They have a 3-day training camp every month where they train potential coaches to become a certified RSB trainer. I have attached the link to the specific tab that explains the details. Earlier this year I heard talk of possibly offering the class on-line, but I’m not sure where that stands, so be sure you ask about it. Take a look at the link and show it to your grandson and see if it’s something he would be interested in pursuing. If he’s interested, have him call the number @cshamb gave you and go from there. I hope it works out for you. Also, it looks like the next available class in Indy is in March, 2017. Classes are filling up fast. There are usually 60 trainees in each class, so talk to your grandson ASAP. Also, tomorrow morning they are having a fundraiser breakfast with at least 700 attendees so if you would happen to call in the next couple of days, it may take a few days before they call you back, I’m not sure of their schedule though.

Hi. Did you see the reply that SparkyParky just sent? Not sure how close you are to Bristol?

Sean Reynolds at Left Jab promotions in Huddersfield. Would be great if you can contact him. I have met him, he is a great chap who trains my grandson Jack Martin. My daughter was diagnosed with Parkinson's just after her husband was killed in a motorbike accident 12 years ago.

So sorry to hear that, Madge B. We noticed that PD symptoms, which may well have been slowly developing, seemed to burst out after trauma. Anyone else observed this?

I have contacted Dennis Stinchcombe and asked him to look up Sean Reynolds, to compare notes.

Just came across your query. I too feel that trauma (emotional) can have a link with the pace of PD presentation. I have known others who have had significant berevement /loss before diagnosis.

Contact Dennis Stinchcombe MBE who is President of the South West (UK) federation. He has contacts all over the UK.

Husband does Rock Steady in Charleston. He loves it and it's done wonders for his morale and balance.

RockSteadyBoxing has a franchise system and a UK boxing coach would have to train in the USA and then pay to use their system here. Here in Bristol, we are starting up a non-contact boxing group for PwPs with boxing coaches adapting their coaching to our needs. Our first session is on Friday 4th November. Please contact me if you live in the Bristol area and would like to attend. Or anyone in the UK wanting to start up a group. Our coach is VERY enthusiastic and would love for his programme to grow "organically across the UK. We did a taster session for 30 minutes last week. Amazing. Couldn't stop that grin - you know how it is!

Unfortunately my grandson lives in Yorkshire so is unlikely to be able to get to Bristol on the 4th November.

He boxes in Huddersfield.

Hi Sparkyparky,

Is your coach Dennis Stinchcombe MBE? I saw a tv news article on his boxing classes for pwp in Bristol that said he hoped to roll out classes through the U.K. I tracked him down on Facebook and have written to him to find out if he has any plans for north Hampshire or any advice so that I could get a class started. Would love to here from you.
