I recommend it after 2 months of it at 2-3 sessions/week, at the Silicon Valley franchise, encouraged by my neurologist, you only box a punching ball for the last 30 min of a 90 minutes session, supportive environment, a different instructor for each day of the week [one with advanced Parkinson], $150/month. Go for it !...

I have been going for almost 3 years and believe it has been a huge help.

There is now 800 affiliates throughout the US and the world. The trainers have to be certified before they can train. Mine is caring and the type of exercise is proven to help PD. Definitely give it a try.

My husband just went for his initial assessment. He will be starting this month. I have heard great things about it. We live in northeast PA $80/mth. I'll let you know how it goes!

That will depend on your level of disability. My husband participated in Rock Steady for two years until his balance became worse. We were told he couldn’t continue because of the liability. My husband told me months later that he was extremely confused by the boxing instruction (which was punching the bag in random order). We are now participating in exercise at our local senior center!

I have participated in a class since my diagnosis in May, 2018 and absolutely love it! My neurologist told me this week that she sees hardly any progression of my symptoms in 1 year and we both feel strongly that the boxing has contributed to that! I love the cognitive workout even more than the physical!

My husband started Rock Steady 4 months ago. He goes three times per week and finds it very helpful. He sees improvement in his balance and decreased severity of his tremors for a couple hours following the exercises. His overall fitness has improved as well. The boxing is only a small part of the 1.5 hr session. We have both large bags and speed bags in our facility. The time is broken up into various stations. Most moves are directed toward PWP like sideways slides and even memory and voice work like calling out the name of the person you will throw the ball to. We see visible improvement in other attendees as well. One lady is said to have moved from needing a wheelchair to using a walker part time over the past year. She is looking stronger each time we see her. But some with severe balance issues find it quite challenging.

Yes, I started RSB last September. I attend 3 days per week, our sessions last for 1 hour. We use a heavy bag, speed bag and high low bag, we also use rowing machines and do different circuit exercises. I would recommend RSB for anyone that is capable of this type of exercise.

Definitely try it. Most people love it and make noticeable improvement or have slowed their progression. I live in Indianapolis where RSB originated in October, 2006. I started in January, 2007, over 12 years. At the end of 2018, I had a little hiccup with my meds & couldn't go for a couple of months & could definitely tell. My fellow boxers helped me get back in the gym & I'm doing much better. I also go to an affliate. It is 4 miles from house rather than 24 miles to the main gym. I pay $60 per month at both places. It's kind of like a donation paying at both places. I truly believe that it is a good thing for all levels of PD. The staff/volunteers will help ALL levels. When there are enough members, they will eventually break the classes into 4 levels. We also do things for small motor skills like puzzles, screwing washers on to screws, the game of "Operation", etc. We play beachball volleyball, how to train like a boxer, and a lot of other fun things that will teach you how to keep moving. You'll feel proud of yourself once you start and find out how much you really can do.

Here is the website: rocksteadyboxing.org.

If you look under Testimonials, look for Debbie (in a purple shirt). That will be me!

Keep fighting!

I started RSB 6 months ago. I'm stronger, healthier, and have lifelong Parky friends. My husband also has caretaker support. It's a win/win!!

I just started RSB in Fulton MD. The owner Raj Kumar is really dedicated. He is clued in since his father has PD. So far I love it and he pushes people really hard. Best Wishes Paul

I m doing it as well - it is an excellent workout, good aerobically and great for retraining the brain, hands, and feet to work together.
