I was diagnosed with PD 6 years ago. I now find that I can’t consistently double click a computer mouse. Is anyone aware of any way around this?

You could get some informations from the posts of johntPM and laglag of a day ago.
I haven’t been able to use the mouse comfortably for quite a long time and simply use the controls on the laptop now.
Windows 10 let's you change the mouse settings including the double click speed. I had to slow it right down for my dad
There is also setting called "sticky keys" which accommodates people like us.
When I was no longer able to control the mouse I went to voice recognition software called Dragon professional ($150) by Nuance. It allows you to do everything with your voice that you would otherwise do with the keyboard and mouse. It's very cool.
One of my first symptoms. Get a pen pad instead. Works great
I switched to my left hand.
SteadyMouse is assistive software, designed from the ground up to be your fierce ally against Essential Tremor and the variants that often accompany Parkinson's disease and Multiple Sclerosis.
I just use it in my left hand. The buttons stay the same I just had to get used to doing it lefthanded, took me a few days. No problem.
