Tanganil Questions

Good morning from England, I’m very grateful for any guidance anyone can provide.

I have tried to find information on this searching online but nothing conclusive. My appointment with new neurologist for tomorrow has just been cancelled and moved to end of June so I can’t ask any questions on anything including two major surgeries that are in the pipeline ! Argh!

1. I want to start Tanganil but am also taking 15 mg Mirtazipine. Can I take the two together? I’m

Not taking any levodopa yet.

I’m trying to taper mirtazipine atm, it’s for anxiety but am feeling pretty anxious these days despite it and it makes constipation worse.

2. What protocol are people using on Tanganil?

I’ve seen that some people are taking for a period then stopping, then starting again.

Thank you again Health Unlocked Community. I feel so lucky to be on this forum as the access to neurologists is woeful atm. Also my last one was very traditional and didn’t want to think outside the box.

Antwort von Chatgpt: Derzeit existieren keine spezifischen Studien oder dokumentierten Fälle, die auf Wechselwirkungen zwischen Mirtazapin und Tanganil (Acetyl-DL-Leucin) hinweisen.

Thanks for checking this for me on Chat GPT. I’m a bit of a Luddite and hadn’t thought to look at that. Not sure Luddite translates well into German!

Hi Chastar, con il Tanganil mi sto trovando molto bene in particolare dal punto di vista dell’equilibrio che è molto migliorato e ciò consente di fare attività fisica in sicurezza.

Thank you, glad to hear it’s working for you.

YOPDWhat does it mean?

Sorry don't know about the drugs.

Was on Mirtazapine last year, and gave it up, still have the "chemical belly" the extra half stone.

It may have helped with anxiety.

All the best

YOPD is young onset Parkinson’s disease. I’m 44. I hear you, mirtazipine really increased my appetite!

Tanganil has been available since 1957, so any side effects should be well known. You should read the instructions enclosed with the medicine. You can also send questions to the manufacturer Pierre Fabre, I did, and they actually replied within a few days. They recommend to take it for no longer periods than 6 weeks.

Thank you, good advice and also thanks for suggesting contact with manufacturer.

With an interval of how long?

Flipper_B profile image
Flipper_B in reply toFed1000

That’s exactly what I asked them! I asked what to do after their recommended period of maximum 6 weeks cure. They said I should stop and get in touch with a doctor. You have to remember this medicine is NOT officially ment to cure iRBD or PD. So nobody really knows what’s right or wrong. It is my personal opinion that it’s probably safer to have some washout periods now and then but I am not a doctor and I don’t know, and cannot take any responsibility of any recommendations.

Do you have a chance to ask why it should be suspended periodically?

Fed1000 profile image
Fed1000 in reply toFed1000

This fact of suspending every six weeks and asking the doctor to resume leaves me doubtful. Evidently a problem is created in the organism. Why doesn’t the manifacturer speak clearly?

I take tanganil and have positive experiences. No progression for a couple of years. There is indirect preliminary evidence here:

nature.com/articles/s41467-...

ChatGPT helped me summarize:

This study is great news for Parkinson’s! Almost everyone with iRBD (acting out dreams in sleep) later develops Parkinson’s, but researchers found that acetyl-DL-leucine (ADLL) improved symptoms in people with iRBD. This means ADLL might slow or even prevent Parkinson’s before it starts, which would be a game-changer since no treatment currently stops the disease. ADLL could help protect dopamine-producing brain cells early on, delaying or reducing symptoms. The best way to get ADLL right now is through Tanganil, an over-the-counter supplement. While more studies are needed, this is one of the most exciting breakthroughs in years, offering real hope for those at risk of Parkinson’s.

If it helps protect dopamine producing cells early on, why shouldn’t it do the same later on.

And the most amazing is that the highly objective DAT scans of the two participants actually improved. I have never seen that in any trial before.

They actually use Tanganil in the trial. As far as I know it can only be purchased in France.

Wow. You have been taking Tanganil for more than two years?

Lucas_s profile image
Lucas_s in reply toDiscogs_discogs

About 1.5 years I think.

I have had no progression in 4 yrs with B1.

Have you had any improvements in PD with tanganil? and what dose

Lucas_s profile image
Lucas_s in reply toGcf51

No improvements really but also no progression. I also do B1, though, I want to double my chances of slowing or halting progression

Thanks for sharing your experience of using Tanganil. Interesting you’ve been on it more than a year. That’s fantastic that you haven’t progressed in the last few years. You must be so happy about that! I read that study you shared after Simon Stott of Cure Parkinsons included it in his update In January . The dat scan differences were really encouraging. That was what prompted me to seek out Tanganil. I can’t believe there hasn’t been more hype!

I was able to get Tanganil shipped to USA last year, but not now. If anyone has a way to get it here, please post. It seems to help my RBD at a low dose-50 mg per day.

It is getting hard to find, even in France. Maybe people are starting to catch on to it

YankeeChris: I ordered it from here without issues. soin-et-nature.com/en/9276-...

That company would not ship outside of France.

I found this company selling NALL online. I don't know if it is legit or not. I can't speak to quality or where it is sourced from. It's expensive. My inquiries have gone unanswered.tessmed.com/n-acetyl-l-leuc...

If you enjoy the answers from ChatGPT, you may also want to try ParkiBot.com which is used in similar ways to ChatGPT, but is very tightly focused around PD, and understands such nuances as the difference between lab results and clinical outcomes, for example. It's completely free to use.
