Hi

Anyone in U.K. had a Skype / telemedicine consultation with Dr Mischley in USA? My husband is thinking about having one, expensive but we like the look of her advice . Want to know what it involves and how the blood test are done . 😀

I was just thinking about the same thing on the way to work. Be good to hear other people's experience from the UK. How does the blood test situation work being on this side of the pond!

Hello, I have completed all the bloodwork for my upcoming phone appointment this Friday. They sent the scripts for the bloodwork by email. You may want check your insurance network participating providers, my insurance covers the appointment and most of the bloodwork. I had my blood drawn at Quest but they send it to another lab for processing. The hair samples are sent to different lab as well and is not covered by my insurance.

I live in Los Angeles, CA, USA. I do NOT have PD. My son was first DX with PD in 2015, later changed to PSP. He died May 4, 2017. All of that is to say that I paid out of pocket for him, and myself, for a MICRONUTRIENT test with SprectraCell labs, inc. It was expensive, but I felt the information worthwhile. Back in 2014, for the both of us, it cost $390. They are located in Texas and you can find them by GOOGLE.

I know Laurie works with people all over the world. I'd suggest you contact her office and ask them what tests they will be recommending and how it works from overseas. Then you can check with your insurance to see what would be covered.

I live in Seattle so can use Dr. Laurie as my primary doc and I am blessed to have her. She is the reason I am functional today! Nothing to add about skyping experience but anyway you can get her guidance I would recommend doing!

She is not on my insurance plan so I pay out of pocket for her and the blood work

Well Ruff that was an interesting exercise in lack of understanding! Do US citizens understand that a health health system can operate outside the insurance industry as in the UK health system ? I think not.

We pride ourselves on being parochial and myopic.

Haha, good one.

And you have reason for such pride?!

My reasoning is based on the fact that most Western democracies far exceed the US in 75% of the important metrics, i.e., cost of healthcare and education is less while outcomes are better, standard of living is higher in many countries, happiness quotient is higher, financial inequalitie is less, lower infant mortality, higher performing graduate students, much less poverty, much less drug addiction, no mass shootings with military weapons, on and on and on, none of which is known or believed by a majority of population, and still every politician, in every speech, crows about how we're the greatest country on earth and all these morons believe it.
