Would like to know if anyone here has been following the dietary guidelines as documented by the Laurie K Mischley self reporters who experience slow progression etc ?

yes, mostly. The odd canned tomato and beans(washed). And frozen peas, otherwise lots of vege, less meat, minimal dairy, salmon once a week. Olive oil.

Also taking the elite dha seems to help.

Also rhodiola rosea has seemed to make quite a difference. Swanson full spectrum x 1 per day.

Hi! How long have you been doing this? My hwp started about a month ago. Will check out the rhodiola, not come across that before. He is also on low dose tanganil (3 months).

We changed our diet about 6 years ago to eliminate things on her list that produce worse outcomes and add the ones that produce better outcomes.

The improvements took a long time. He lost lots of weight quickly. Probably too quickly. Then stabilised. I think losing weight quickly dumps a lot of waste from fat cells into body to process all at once. He’s been pretty good for most of last year . He does tend to go in cycles. Each time he catches eg covid or a cold he dips for a while and slowly comes right again.

Also gluten and sugar free (mainly).

i followed her green only list for a 6 months and improved. I added in rice and oats and started to decline over the next 6 months. Switched to ketovore over the next 6 months and have maintained a steady state with some improvement.

Does "ketovore" indicate a standard keto diet?

Not sure what "green only list" is... but, and discontinued when you had improvements?

ketovore is heavily meat based (less than 20g carbs).

Her Green list is fruit, veg, nuts, fish, eggs. This was ok but not sustainable and got worse adding in grains . It lead me to ketogenic then ketovore.

We mostly do it. No dairy, no gluten, no meat. But we were already vegetarian and making everything pretty much from scratch, so it was relatively easy for us to make the changes.

HWP was diagnosed almost 5 years ago at 48. Progression has been pretty slow. He also exercises every day. His main symptoms are bradykinesia and some dystonia, but for the most part it has not been very noticeable.

I think Dr. Mischley is brilliant! Her science is solid. Her dedication to the Parkinson’s community is unmatched. I was diagnosed six years ago, and on her plan from day one, OK maybe day 10. My PRO-PD score has dropped by half. Which is remarkable in my mind! I follow her food plan about 80-90% of the time. I can’t be all good. But I stay kinda vegan and completely dairy free which I think are the most important parts. I eat lots of gluten and lots of rice and lots of sugar. The key for me is to exercise every single day, intensely. Sign up for her Online Parkinson’s School. It’s everything you need to know about plan. At $100 per year, the best payoff is the weekly zoom meetings online. Absolutely fantastic investment. I am nearly symptom free and have not progressed at all in six years. My wife is amazed that she’s not caregiving for me. Hopefully , never will be!Get to it.

Thanks! I have no real insight into this but it seems to me early onset is a whole different kettle of fish and I was really wanting to ask if you had early onset. Every good wish!
