Hi all, My blood test show high level of liver enzyme. Just wondering if anyone has this problem or know why. I suspect it might be bacause I take many supplements? I also take kinson PD meds, but I think this was even before I started the meds.

Also, would taking B1, Magnesium have long term has side effect on liver etc.?

Thanks.

Various family members had high liver enzymes which all returned to normal after taking milk thistle for 6 months. My husband takes it regularly for his liver because he is taking other medications. He takes thompsons 42000 mg

Thanks Millbrook. Is it 42000mg=42g of Milk thistle?

Yes you can google the product. After 6 months yr liver enzymes should come down gradually

Hi TL, check with your doctor to see if there are other underlying problems. Elevated liver enzymes can be due to fatty liver as well. Check with yr doctor and try the milk thistle. Family members who had fatty liver had it resolved gradually with milk thistle

Thanks Millbrook. So you have more than one person in the family taking it with success?

Do they take the same 42000mg dose?

If it’s fatty liver try going gluten free and sugar free and eat lots of vegetables every day every meal. Especially greens.

Thanks. Do you know why fatty liver? I think my ultrasound didn't show a problem.

Basically when you eat, bile is secreted from the gallbladder to digest fats etc. As I understand it, It is reabsorbed into the liver. People with high fat diet get fatty liver. It could also be produced by the liver. In the 1990s my husband had fatty liver. Doctor suggested monitoring and changing diet and see how it goes. There was no medication then and I think there isn’t any now either. I read the book the Liver Cleansing Diet by Sandra Cabot and started my husband on livatone- which has milkthistle - it has since morphed into a new product livotone plus which has only 3.6 g of milk thistle per 4 capsules with other ingredients added in and of course became more expensive. Two of my brothers in law also had raised liver enzymes at some point in time and they also took it. Two of my sisters also had elevated liver enzymes and started on milk thistle. All of us have moved to Thompson’s with the one a day capsule 42000 mg milk thistle. If you are in Australia they have specials where it is 40-50% off. A bottle of 60 capsules during the sale cost less than $16 aud. You can find it on chemistwarehouse.com.au

If you take a lot of meds and drink , milk thistle is good for your liver. It’s been years now and more new products have evolved. The key ingredient is milk thistle

Thanks very much Millbrook for your detailed info. I'm in Australia Sydney. Where are you based if you don't mind me asking?

Is the dose too high? 42000mg sounds too high? I'm small built and about 47kg.

How long did your family members take to start see the improvement? and all members? Thanks

I think it’s not just high fat but high sugar too is bad for it.

We used to be based in Sydney but have moved. The Thompson’s brand has one that is 36000 mg. I think you have to take it for 6 months. For my brother in law, his levels were v high and only became normal after a year. But a 6 month blood test showed great improvement . You can read up on it and decide for yourself which one suits you best. Wishing you all the best

I replied to you twice but my internet died each time I tried to post. As it is lengthy reply will message you in a week when I am home. It’s frustrating having my Long reply disappear into the air twice

Thanks Millbrook for your time to list all those. I don't know about Mannitol's sideeffect. I only try to take 2-3 teaspoon everyday.

Is the probiotic good? for PD?

What do you think about the Vielight? Is it red light? Thannks.

The probiotic has helped resolve my husband’s stomach problems of bloating, indigestion and reflux. Clostridium butyricum is supposed to be beneficial for PWP. I buy it from amazon japan. It is called miyarisan probiotic.

The Vielight gamma is red light therapy that pulses at 40 hz. We started at the beginning for the nocturia. I was unaware that he could have PD. He has not been diagnosed. Red light also improved his sense of smell though he cannot identify some smells still. There were further improvements with the B1 hcl.

I started reading up more and started adding other supplements

Hope this helps you
